Friends Learning Magic

Since my magic has taken off and I have performed more and became more known, people seem to want to follow.

I used to perform about once or twice a week for my fourth period class. I got out of that class to transfer to something else. Now, a friend who is still in that class, says that one of the kids, Taylor, has been going home, learning tricks, and coming back and doing them. I would take a guess and say he is probably learning them on youtube. I hear that people say his tricks are ok but absolutely nothing like the things I can do!

And in another case, in the new place I transferred to, once I showed them some magic, one kid told me how he has a stripper deck and a few custom decks from E. He did a trick where he named the color of a few cards, and then split the pack into reds and blacks. A few days later, we were talking and he said he was looking on E and is wanting to get Metal. Now, this worries me because I am getting Metal, and coin magic is my favorite, and I just want him to practice the stuff before he shows anyone, ya know?

Has this happened to anyone else? You show someone magic and then suddenly they want to get into it?

Once or twice, however one, was a cute girl, who simply said she had been doing some research, and didn't really seem interested in doing any, just learning about magic.

the other, was a friend in college, he is an actor, and he seems very interested, with good heart. So I plan to show him some easy and good beginner stuff at christmas, and see how he does with it.

I really don't mind it but I'm just scared that they will reveal some of my favorite effects just by not practicing them, ya know? If he is willing to practice and get it down before he performs it, then I'm all for it, I will help him out!

If thats the case... ask him to wait until you guys both have the DVD and then maybe the two of you can session together. That way you can bith make sure that you both have practiced enough

Dude, can you go 1 day without posting a new thread! Gosh!

But addressing the main question, just ask him if he is serious about magic and point him in the right direction. Tell him to practice the tricks until he can do it blindfolded before he performs it for others. If he really is interested in magic, it's a good thing. It's always good to have friends who are also magicians, sadly, I don't. Don't worry about him 'stealing your thunder'. Just in case you are worried about that. I know you probably aren't but it might happen. :)
