Good Video Cameras

From looking at the media section, lots of people use some decent cameras for filming their effects.

I am looking into purchasing one, maybe two decent video cameras, plus tripods.

As far as I am aware one camera is enough, but having two can make the editing far more complicated, but much worth it as you can film the same thing in different angles which can look very effective.

What is your view on video cameras? I have low knowledge on video cameras, so which camera would you recommend?

My budget is about £500 / $1000 for one camera, if I do not need to spend that much, then that is great. What should I be looking for in a camera before I buy?

I am guessing HD cameras are recommended, please give some advice here :)

Thanks!

Hey! There are already a few threads on this but I'll try to help you out as much as possible.

HD doesn't always mean best quality. There are some pretty low quality HD cameras out there and that's due to the sensors. A great camera in your budget would be the Canon HV30. It is the step up model to the Canon HV20. Those cameras are highly praised for their top quality and low price mark. I use the HV20 and I love it. The great thing about this camera is all of the addons that are available for it. (35mm Adapters, rail system, lens hoods, etc.) Just look at what I did with my HV20.

Now there's a huge price difference from the high end consumer cameras to the prosumer cameras.

The next camera I would recommend would be the Panasonic DVX100B. But this is probably out of your price range. (2,500$).

I hope I helped you :).
