since I am a novice in the world of magic. please his guidance and tips to become a good magician and professional. I confess I was really embarrassed when I have posted a trick "improptorn". because is in my mind that time is merely to share it, not knowing that my actions were damaging the existing magic ethics. I was so sorry again for my mistake at that time. and there is a question for you, "what magic do you think?" . Please guidance

I used to think that I was a noob as well; however, for the past two years, I have realized that my skill has improved quite a lot. I think it also made me into a better person, person-wise.

There are 6 commandments people like you should be familiar with.

1. Never repeat a trick for the same audience.
2. Never EVER reveal the workings of a trick for said audience. This includes showing the exact setup before a routine, as Penn Jillette points out in his cups and balls routine.
3. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. This is one of the most sinfully violated commandment, and I can easily understand; I violate it due to other obligations. However, if you are working as a magician, for example; NO ONE wants to see you playing solitaire while you're supposed to be rehearsing your Asrah levitaiton.
4. Have fun! You have no idea how many magicians violate this rule and **** themselves up
5. This one is relatively new: Thou shalt not abuse the Internet as a medium to reveal magic or to pirate magic videos; for we magicians are jealous magicians, punishing and shunning YouTubers for their iniquity. You probably are familiar with that already, considering your circumstances. Usually this is violated by (1) people revealing tricks, often wrongly, on Youtube, and (2) people putting up torrents to pirated versions of magician's videos you'd pay $30 for. You probably messed up by flashing a lot but this alone does not constitute a malicious intent.
6. Honor among our kind. This refers to what theory11 is all about: brotherhood. As the first article of the United Declaration of Human Rights states: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. If it is true for humans, it has to be true for magicians too

"what magic do you think?"

Well, I'd begin with basic card sleights, everyone does that way; coins can be a side along or come by later like they did for me but it's really up to you. By the way, Master Aaron Fisher states that when you do a mechanic's grip, you have to keep your thumb aligned with the deck's edge; covering the side and tip aligned with the front edge of the deck. Should help

Tell me what you think!

There are volumes of information that could be written about this subject. Everything from theory to practicality. The easiest way to sum it all up is this. Always strive to be better than you were yesterday. Imporve your mind, your knowledge of history, your knowledge of effects & their workings, your knoweldge of business & marketing, your knowledge of yourself, and your knowledge of theory.

Seanhawk23 also pointed out some real good ideas for a beginner too. I'd take those to heart as well.

How. Sweet. :D

magicians code:
1, dont reveal a trick! no matter how much they beg and ask, say no.
2. dont do the same trick twice (unless your name is michael ammar

PRACTICE PRACTICE
one thing i learned was not to show someone a trick (unless they are a very very close friend/magician friend (my friends basically know how i do my tricks because they've watched me since day one.) untill you have it down pat, no stuttering and trying to do the slight right. it will make you much more confident and easy for you to perform.

get 3 or 4 main tricks that you have down PERFECTLY! then you'll fry anyone!

with pirating, some things are alright to look up, like how to do a double lift, or find a cool one. but usually youtube videos downright suck. its usually 12 year old or less trying to do a trick , sloppy and looks like crap. so dont do that.
there are some good tutorials online tho.

learn right the first time. if you learn something wrong, its hard to change your ways.

thats all i can type right now. class is starting, so i'll talk later
good luck and have fuN!

Don't tell your audience the trick that you are about to do. Maybe some tricks are exempted, but for the majority of your tricks, DO NOT TELL THEM THE EFFECT BEFOREHAND.

I came to realize this when before, i usually tell the spectator that what i'm about to do is called a sandwich effect. And guess what? They stare directly at the two kings or aces or whatever i am holding as if they'd shoot me once they see some fancy moves.

Simply put. They become more observant if you do this.

. Confidance is such a key aspect if you have cinfidance in your ability and in your performance then your on to a winner come across un confidant and your audiance no matter how big or small will sense this and pull the plug.

. Practice, ITS A CARDINAL SINN TO NOT DO THIS PEOPLE WATCH AN EFFECT THEN WATCH THE EXPLANATION AND WITHING AN HOUR THERE PERFORMING IT!!

TOTAL LACK OF RESPECT FOR MAGIC IN GERERAL

DO THE ABOVE AND YOUR ON TO A SURE WINNER IMO
HAPPY ENTERTAINING:D:D:D

Learn everything right the first time. This is a good tip for everything in life, but applies to magic specifically due to muscle memory.
If you practice a move incorrectly, you will do it incorrectly. Take time to learn everything correctly the first time around and you wont spend months re-learning everything.

And yes, practice. But also perform. One bad performance can teach you more than months worth of practice in terms of timing, misdirection, and audience control.

Don't get discouraged if you have a bad performance or can't get a certain move down either. A lot of moves, like the pass, take years to master and performances get better the more you do them (especially if you take the time to master 3-5 tricks and do them over and over).
