IBM Registration Questions

I just found out that there is an IBM Ring near me. I am trying to register to be an IBM member, and I have a few questions.

1.) Should I get the Linking Ring magazine?

2.) Is this just an application request? Or will I have to be accepted in?

3.) I will be 18 in less than a month (December 15). Should I still apply for youth, or adult? Is there a difference besides price?

4.) Lastly, the youth fee is $35 (for the registration and the magazine) but when I get to the bottom, the total is $50. Without the magazine, the fee is $15. When I look at the total, it is $30. Why is an extra $15 being added in?

Thanks,
Rob

1. YES. I love The Linking Ring! It is a great magazine!

2. To be apart of the national organization, it is just an application. To become a member of your ring, they will probably make you try out to be able to join. This isn't hard at all. All you need to do is go up in front of everyone, show them a trick or two, and your done. Don't go for fooling them though (if you can, great!), but they like to see confidence in the magician. Almost everyone makes it. They only do tryouts so they know you are serious about magic and are not just some dude that is coming to learn free magic and to make sure you don't you profanity constantly and are mean/rude to the other members.

3. I don't konw about that one. Probably for youth because you still are 17. You save A LOT of money that way (for the registration, conventions, ect...).

4. There is a standard $15 rate that you need to pay to be a member of the club. This is a yearly rate. You will aldo need to pay for the magazine again (the yearly subscription).

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Ben pretty much told you all you needed to know... But yeah the Linking ring is awesome. So you definitely want to get that. About joining your local ring... I really didn't need to have an audition or anything... I think it varies ring to ring.
