I'm stumped! Is this a trick box?

Recently saw this trick on Youtube, watched it like 4 times now and I can't figure it out. Anybody here have a clue as to how the 3 pegs turn into 6 when they are put into the box and then completely disappear when they are put in again?

What made you think that? Could it be the tiresome focus on the props? The lack of anything else to focus on?
