Introducing myself to the Forum

I didn't see a "new member" sub-section so I hope this listing is in an appropriate place:

I have had a lifelong fascination with magic and performed illusions, and while I was never a practitioner of magic in the traditional sense, I have had a lengthy career in film and TV special makeup effects, where we use some of the same concepts and principles of creating an illusion of some reality, by artificial devices.

I have studied the technical side of the magical performing arts and enjoy trying to reverse-engineer a trick. I particularly like the way the magical performing arts have adopted a method of a rigorous anaysis of a trick or illusion, so it's actual mechanics can be studied.

I specifically joined this forum to discuss a clasical mystery widely assumed to be a hoax, but something which I must question, and I do not think that the analysis by people before me properly analyzed the problem, and thus could not get a truthful solution. It is my hope that being in a discussion setting where people do engage in reverse engineering of hoaxes, tricks, and illusions, that dialogues on this topic of my concern may be dissected with the same reasoned and methodical processes used for magic illusion analysis.

I'm still in the process of getting familiar with this forum and in drafting up the Opening Post of the topic I wish to explore, but I simply wanted to introduce myself at this point. Also, I'd simply like to say I do use my real name as my screen name.

Rick:

Thank you for the welcome. This forum is a bit different in structure than others I participate in, so I'll likely wander around for a few days first.

Kevin:

Very kind of you to give your attention.

When I do finally post the aforementioned topic for discussion, I want to strive for a truly dignified, informative and reason-based consideration of the topic, as it relates to principles of magical illusion and the conjuring arts, so it'll take a few days to draft up the Opening Post to hopefully set the tone accordingly. A lot of internet discussion ends up taking the "low road" and the high road is the path less often traveled. I'm hoping to stay on the high road.

Just a brief note to say i was going to post my discussion idea, but found out the forum's system limits a post OP to a certain number of letter characters, and I was way over that limit. So I've got some editing to do on my opening post to condense it somewhat.
