IT where to start?

Recently I have began to be interested in IT. But I really don't know where to start. I have looked on The Tarantula by Yigel Mesika and Invisible by Damien Savina. And half of the reviews I have read of it says it's pretty bad. So that's why I'm writting here. Do any of you know a good DVD to get into IT with something that is practical and rather easy to do.

There are two important kinds of IT.
First there is invisible thread you can let things fly with.
The Second type is elastic thread (Loops). With Loops you don't want to let things fly, but you can do so much strong magic with these.
If you want to start with the the Loops (and I highly recommend these, because they are practical and really powerful)
"Guerilla Guide to Loops" (3 DVD-Set by Nathan Kranzo, Daniel Garcia and Justin Miller) is perfect.

If you want to let objects fly, you will find many different types of ITRs and you have to decide yourself wich one fits best for you. A really great one is Centrifugal by Magick Balay.

Hope that helps!

Some excellent points already made. Centrifugal looks good. Invisible is also good. Loops give you, I think, more freedom of use but you also have more restriction on movement while using them. Any of these are good starting points, so just pick one and go with it for a while until you get used to working with the thread.

Two things to note: IT is fragile. It will break. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. It's going to be frustrating and you will be fishing the thread out of the reel or switching to backup loops. Just accept that. The more you work with it, the better you'll be at not breaking the thread, but you will always break it on occasion.

The other thing is kind of two points in its own. You need to work on this in ways you may not have worked before. Lighting becomes really important. The way you move becomes really important. People who have put a lot of work into the Zombie Ball will understand this. You want to move your body and/or the thread in ways that makes it seem like you can't be attached. If you move like you'll pulling something on a string, it will be clearly obvious.

Good luck.

Not all IT is the same

As was said above, IT is very fragile and it depends what you're levitating- heavy items may require specialized IT whereas paper/dollar bills you can use the cheapest stuff

It is not recommend to start with an ITR(invisible thread reel) when you are just learning how to use the IT.
Since you don't know how much weight the IT can hold or the tension it can withstand from the ITR, you will just be breaking your thread all day and it is very frustrating to repair an ITR.

I personally think that the Master Levitation System by Steve Fearson is the best kit to start off with. Included it the kit is many props, waxes , and different kinds of IT for you to experiment with to fit your liking. For more information of the product visit his website here http://www.emagicsupply.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30_3&products_id=43

Hope this helps
