Just A Quick Story...

Tonight, there was a party for all the magicians around my area. I thought I'd share a little story of something that I still cannot believe happened to me.

I was invited to this party and was told that I could bring whoever with me...friend, girlfriend, family etc. To start, I was invited to this party this past Monday and, up until Friday, I didn't think I was going to go. My best friend, Blake, ended up going with me tonight. Just and FYI, Blake is not a magician, he does however think magic is sweet, and always watches my magic and helps me out.

When we first got there, it was VERY awkward. We said hello to the only two people I really knew...Alex, and Danny [Garcia]. We awkwardly stood around for a bit and then finally got some grub. We ate and then ended up meeting and chatting with some teen magicians our age. We all talked for a good while and showed each other some magic. I showed them Dresscode, and they were blown away.

We eventually mingled into the kitchen where we all gathered around the island and had kind of a mini session with Danny. He was showing us some magic and talking with us about magic. Blake was to the left of Danny, and Danny's phone was laying on the island in front of him. It starts to buzz. Just as Blake looks down, Danny picks up the phone and says "Hang on, David Blaine is calling." I looked at Blake and said "No. Way."

Danny then says something like "I'm actually at a party for magicians talking with some of the teenage magicians," to David over the phone. Then he says "Yeah, here talk to Robby." Danny hands me the phone..... I say "Hello?"....and David Blaine says hey to me...... Wow, I was speechless I had no clue what to say so I just said the first thing that came to mind...."Is this really David Blaine?" hahahaha I feel so dumb for that now. I chatted with him for a minute and then he had me say something to Danny that was apparently a joke between the two and then Danny took the phone back and went off to talk to him.

I still cannot believe I talked to David Blaine....However short and meaningless the conversation may have been.....I am still in shock that it happened. I just wish I would have told him thank you for being an inspiration...

Nice story man. That would be great to have happen. When you stop and think about it, the magic community is a fairly small tight knit community.

It definitely seems that way, reverhart. In a way, I wanted to get Danny's autograph but I kind of would have felt dumb for asking because, one, I saw him twice this week, and two, both times I saw him he said whats up to me and talked with me just like he and I were good friends just hanging out, practicing magic. In a way I thought to myself that I want his autograph, but it's not that big a deal...he IS a professional, yes, however other than that he is no different than me. Danny is such a cool down to earth guy and I don't think that I can thank him enough for helping me with a few things, and even teaching me a coin vanish and subtlety.

This magic community is definitely tight knit and full of crazy nice people too.
