so I just got my loops today, and im already in love with them.

but i had some questions for people who use them often.

I broke one already, maybe because i was testing it out on different things.

How often have you had to buy them?
how often do you use them?
What are your favorite effects with them?
and can you fix them?

thanks

I got a pack of 25 or so loops off ebay. The key is to stretch them out gently before you start using them. I used them for a couple weeks and then realized that they are just not my style. They can be fun however to wear to restaurants and make you drinking straw float out of your drink.

I've bought only one pack of the pre-made loops, I make my own loops with Invisible elastic thread.
I love loops as well, I have one on my wrist every day, throughout the day, I use them after a few other effects, usually and I know my audience pretty well.

My favorite effect is both the haunted deck or the one where a card is selected, returned, lost and the deck is spread. Then a marker, fork, pen or anything similar is laid now a moves seemingly on it's own volition to find the card selected.

As I said before I make mine with IET. I use Infinity thread, you can find a lot of information on IET just search around, get a spool you like and experiment with different tying methods. Personally I've had no problem with the million dollar knot, it works fine for me.

Get vol 1 of the loops DVD. It tells you how to take care of your loops.

I use loops about once a week at my school and almost all the time on the streets.

My favorite effect is haunted pack. I just love it.

And no you can not fix them, I think im not really sure.

Loops are tricky!! I think I've spent over $200 on loops over my span of doing magic for 8 years! The worst is when some old lady comes noticees you have a hair on your wrist and feels inclined to remove it for you!!

I know, I have a several case of that. My recommendation is buy silkworm or infinity or something other than pre-tie loops, those can get expensive. Also change a new loop every 2 day if you are constantly using it; even though it still work, but throw it away any way because it's getting weak by then and it might snap on you anytime. Or you'll started to see clump or lint starting to build up on the loop due to contact to your cloth, etc. That is why I recommend you change a new loop every 2 days.

I hope this help.;)

ah thanks for all the help.

I was looking at E, and I saw the invisible thread in the dental floss. That looks like the best way to go as far as loops.

Is that a good idea?

in my opinion, no. I don't like the Yigal Mersika thread, I'll tell you why. They break very easily, and they are expensive.

I bought 1 from E a while a go, it's about 30 dollars and it comes in a dental floss case with 100 ft. 100ft is nothing at all, especially when your started doing loops, your going to go through that really fast.

my recommendation is buy something else, something cheaper and not break as easy as Yigal Mersika brand.

the only good thing about Yigal Mersika's thread is they are really invisible.

I'm currently using silkworm. They are great. They don't break as easy, but they are a bit thick. the good thing is, you can split them into 3 smaller strain to make it more invisible.

I hope this help.

There was a post not too long ago comparing the three different threads - the Mesika, the PET I think it was, and the Silkwork (2nd might be my brain acting up), with various pros and cons. Some are stronger than others, but strength generally means more visibility also.
