I said I would keep everyone in the loop of what I'm doing to market my public show for October 1st. The first few weeks was to create "awareness" and get publicity. I managed to get

-free radio advertising all of August and September
-Television appearance on KKTV (August 5th)
-Television appearance on Fox21 (September 12th)

In the video, I tell you how I got the publicity for the show but it can be described in one word; Facebook

Here is the blog:

Here is the video on the television appearance (Aug 5)...

Here is a recording of one of the interviews on the radio...

On a larger scale...all of this isn't just for the show, it is for branding

Very nice..I hate that nobody has posted a comment yet...I guess...doing a public show on our own is a very brave thing...thanks for the info buddy..

BTW I have a question...there is a very very big Festival coming to my town the next months...and there is a stage where thousands of people see shows...I was wondering ..I would like to do a short performance there..what do you suggest me to do?...and by this I mean how can I get in and convince the staff to allow me do perform there...btw...Jeff Mcbride performed there last year...but also a very, very, very bad local magician...what would I need? recomendation letters? video?

I don't perform outside so I don't know much about fairs but when it comes to selling yourself, nothing is better than having footage of you performing for a real crowd (the crowd that you want to hire you).

You should contact the person in charge of hiring entertainment for the event and show them your website/videos.

I'm not sure if your facebook is a lot of business stuff but if it is then you should add them on your facebook. They will see your video posts and probably watch them. So by the time you contact that person they will feel as if they know you. That is why you will notice my facebook page is strictly business. When I add someone that I want to do business with, they have no choice but to see the videos I post.

You can always send Jeff a message and ask him if he remembers the contact name of the person in charge of the fair.

But the basic way you're going to book this gig is like most gigs when starting. You have to contact them in some form or another. Either through a call, email, mail (I usually do email). Then you show them your website and tell them to contact you soon (if you can add them on facebook then do it).

Let me know how it goes
