New concepts in magic?

This is purely opinionated discussion. You look at many of the effects now and so many of them are just new methods to old concepts in magic, Justin Miller's Captured, Sandwhich effects from Dan and Dave's Dvds, and so on.

So what is your take on the rehashing of concepts and do you purchase these effects even if you already own a similar effect?

I do realize there are other new ideas in magic like Ferguson's Tagged (I believe), but these are uncommon and while I loved it, I just don't perform it enough and it isn't quite to my liking necessarily.

The effect nowadays isn't unique or original any more, however, the way people 'do' it is.

It'll take a long time man. And deep soul searching too. dM comes to mind on this new revalation. Even though some of his effects are from old concepts, or improvement of old concepts, theres an inspiring part of the gears that make those turn.
