Thanks Casey. I think another good thing to start out with is extreme begginers but they dont really teach any two handed cut on extreme begginers.

Thanks Casey. I think another good thing to start out with is extreme begginers but they dont really teach any two handed cut on extreme begginers.

To add 2 cents to a years-old thread: yes, Xtreme Beginnerz doesn't teach many two-handed cuts (though the basic motions of Sybil are covered, as are some basic two-handed swing, pivot, flop and turnover cuts), but that's part of the reason it's so useful for beginners. It covers so many fundamental basics that many other modern training resources don't go over, at least not as in-depth.

Ideally, you would get Xtreme Beginnerz along with something else that teaches more variety in other areas, such as Genesis, The Trilogy, The System, etc.

Best,
Vince

Hi. I've been in cardistry for a little over 9 months now and I've only been learning flourishes through Youtube. Their ok but i feel that I should get me a DVD of some sort on Flourishing. I know how to do a number of flourishes already namely the one handed cuts; normal one handed cut, revolution cut, triple false cut, Cox Uker and a one from Dan n' Dave that I picked up in a Hendricks Forberg video (Forest). other flourishes include from the Sybil, the 6 packet Sybil by 52Kards, Glass, Feather, Mantis, Rounhouse 2, Little Genisis, Rock it by Aryus, Rolodex, Tornado cut and 2 of my own flourishes. Ok my question is, given what I know, What would the best DVD title should I get and why? Mind you, im not saying that ive mastered the flourishes mentioned above but I can do each fluently but at a moderate pace, I haven't speeding up as much as I want to do to the fact that I use Casino cards namely Aristocrats Casino Cards. Aperently Flourishing and Cardistry in my country (Papua New Guinea) is unknown so the businesses here see no profit in shipping in proper decks like Bicycle or Tally ho and the like. So im stuck with these junk for now, I do have a Tally Ho Fanback that was a gift from a relative but unfortunately the first 6 months got the best of it. Anyway, im blabering now.

Thank you for taking time to read this, I do hope that atleast one of you may answer my question. Thanks :)

Hi Tommy,

I'd recommend the DVD "Xtreme Beginnerz" by De'vo. It covers the widest range of fundamental and basic moves of any training resource out there, and teaches you how to do the moves with lots of detail. Everything from fans, springs, card throwing, one-handed cuts, two-handed cuts, armspreads and more are covered.

I've also heard good things about Andrei's "Genesis" DVD, but I haven't seen it myself.

Best,
Vince

I'm new to cardistry. What would you recommend that I learn for my first flourish/cut? I am currently using an Artifice v2 Emerald green deck.

Hi Spencer!
I'm fairly new to cardistry also. Maybe the basic thumb fan? A nice cut might be the charlier cut...

Hope that helped you!

The first one you learn will always be the hardest, then it will take weeks if not months to get it looking smooth and fast. There's no way to make it easier, you just have to jump in. Some general tips: break the cut down into separate parts to learn - if you need to, start with only half the deck - you have to do a cut smoothly before you can do it speedily.

I've heard from a lot of people, and I agree, that the Sybil cut can help a lot when you're just starting out with multi-packet flourishes. It takes a couple of hours to get used to it, but once you do, you'll be able to learn a lot of other more difficult flourishes easier.
