I was wondering which card controls were the most effective when performing, or whether it is better to use a pass such as; herman, turnover or spread. I usually perform to small crowds of 1-4 people!

I've always said this and always will. Just learn a classic pass and practice it like crazy. Nothing looks better then openly putting a card into the deck and seemingly do nothing. I don't like double undercut because it shows you shuffling the cards around right after returning their card. A pass is the best in my opinion.

1. Dmb spread control/Dmb to any position variation
2. The Kelly Psych
3. Double undercut variation
4. Cherry control (I don't perform this control in real life performances)

1. Double undercut
2. Turn over pass
3. Diagonal palm shift
4. Double lift

I've found myself doing less and less card controls though. With a lot of what I do a peak, force work fine.
