Pathetic Cards

In addition to practising sleights with the old, crusty decks you should also research sleightless tricks - these can be some of the most potent magical effects with a deck of playing cards, as there really is nothing to hide.

Ed Marlo's "unexpected prediction", numerous tricks by Paul Gordon, Roberto Giobbi's "Card College Light" series - there's a tremendous amount of good self working magic out there to play with.

Cheers,
David.

I will second this (pretty much what i said in my above post anyway). I can also second the recommendation of Paul Gordon's books/DVD. I just got his Card Startlers DVD the other day. 47 tricks for £35, a bargain if you ask me and most of which can be done with a 'crap' deck. He also has a ton of books out and his website has some very generous offers if you buy more than one.

I also recommend Nick Trost's books. Card Magic of Nick Trost is a book everyone should read. Most of the tricks work on clever principles and subtleties rather than sleights but still look very magical.
