Hey,

as a card guy its hard for me to learn some coin sleights, esp. the Classis Palm and the Gosnan (?) Pinch under the Pinky and then the recatch/reapparation in the fist. Do you have some general advice how I could practice coin magic better cuz it isnt comparable to card magic for me.

Cheers
Philipp

First off, what coin magic books/DVDs/downloads do you have? It's important to have a clear idea of your goal before you start practising, so having a good description or demonstration of the technique is key. When you're sure that you've understood exactly what you're aiming at, then effective practice is about breaking the technique into small, repeatable tasks which can be executed over and over again, ideally 10,000 times, until they can't fail. So, for the classic palm with one coin, the first task to repeatedly execute might be placing the coin on fingertip rest postion, transferring it to classic palm and extending your fingers with your palm downwards to test whether the coin is gripped firmly enough. The first hundred or so times you do this, the move will feel unnatural, your hand will be tense and it wouldn't fool a blind idiot. With constant repetition and a firm grasp of what the technique is supposed to look like when its mastered, though, you'll notice your hand begin to relax and the move begin to feel natural. After a few thousand repetitions, you'll notice that you're unconsciously making improvements to the technique to suit your own hand and requirements. After ten thousand repetitions, you'll have it mastered.

Go get BoBo's guide to Modern Coin Magic, and then Eric Jone's 3 DVD set Metal from Ellusionist. That's all you'll need for a while. Practice. I recommend using silver coins over other metals because they weigh more and feel better in your hand. But that is my personal preference. Ultimately use what ever works best for you. Don't be afraid to experiment.
