This is my reply to posts I have read in some of the forums.
Banachek’s Magic Pledges
1. I will do everything in my power to
promote a positive view of magic in the public
forum.
2. I will treat each of my fellow Magi with the
same respect I wish to receive.
3. I will never explain the workings of another
magician’s act to a lay person.
4. I will respect the territory of another
performer and will not perform his tricks at
his venue.
5. I will not put down other magicians, but
will always speak positively about other
magicians in front of lay people.
6. I will not try to outdo another performer
just for the sake of doing so.
7. I will not assume that anything in another
performers act is available for me to take.
8. I will not distract from a performance by
whispering, talking or texting during his act.
9. I will not disturb a fellow performer prior
to his show.
10. I will not take notes during another
performer’s act.
11. I will only criticize a fellow performer
constructively, being careful not to put down a
fellow magician.
“Respect your fellow magician.”
