Casey Rudd stated that Justin won because the judges felt that his submission was the most original, and was executed very well.
Meaning out of
all the submissions that were entered into the contest they found Justin's the most original. The methods in all the entries received were not "original" and nowhere in the rules did it state that the effect had to be an original creation. An example was even given (a torn and restored tree branch) obviously a T&R routine has been done many times before but that would have been an acceptable entry as long as it was using objects found in nature - tree branches, leaves, dirt, fruit, vegetables, etc.
The only rules were:
- create an effect using objects found in nature
- post the link to the video no later than 7:30pm EST yesterday
Furthermore, you, yourself did not submit an entry into the contest and so Justin winning affects you how?
The proper response next time would be contacting Casey Rudd directly through e-mail:
casey@theory11.com or through Private Message with any grievances you have with future Saturday Night Contests.
Thank you.
