Hey guy's
I want to discuss something I have been discovering more and more to be a helpful a enahncing magic principle. I call it smoothness of motion.
Micheal Ammar talks alot about this and I have learned alot from him. Its so important to have smoothness as you perform. Especially with cards but this applies to every area of magic. Here is a mistake I make all to often and how I hope to correct it.
If I am about to perform say, a pass I am inclined to break my rytheme swallow a couple of times ( I don't know why but I tend to swallow when performing a difficult or special move) blink and stop my patter which is completley unatrual I mean after-all all I am supposed to be doing is turning the cards. It imediatly tunes someone in that their is a secret move is being performed. I have found this to be a problem in most area's of magic.
It is so important to when performing a "move" to have it practiced so smoothe that you could pet your dog, watch T.V., eat a bowl of ice cream, analyze a news story, and give a speech while making a perfect pass and double lift. I am exagerating but my point is that my magic moves should be so natrual that I don't have to think twice I Can enjoy interacting with my audeince.
Any pause, blinking or swallowing is something that has to be practiced out of a person. I think part of the reason Dan and Dave are as good as they are is they make some of the hardest slights in magic look as easy as walking down the street.
I have learned that what separates a pro from a amature is the smoothness in which he performs. No matter how difficult the slight every thing should be done with a steady rytheme. No speeding up of speach know slowing down just a steady smooth motion. I noticed from experience that the more natural I am with a certain effect the more people are suprised and it looks so much more profesionial.
I still have a lot to learn and need more practice to do everything with out a stutter and I will keep working on it. And if you guy's have any advice about this I would be grateful to hear it.
Remeber to do every thing smoothely,
Christian
