I have never performed magic for big crowd on the stage. So I want to know what tricks you can show on the stage, just with deck of cards. I am mostly close-up card magician, so could you please tell me some trick with cards for around 200 people?
You know, I just want people to see what I'm doing on the stage.

Thanks.

Technically speaking there are hundreds if not thousands of such things and that's without getting into the fanning and flourishing side of things, which is actually the more appropriate side of card work on stage; just watch those classic manipulation acts of old if you doubt me.

I don't recommend standard card effects for stage work i.e. pick a card and using a regular deck such as you would at the close-up table or even parlor settings. Rather, use jumbo cards and do schtick such as the old Sidewalk Shuffle and similar monte type routines or, with a normal sized deck, gags like 6 Card Repeat. . . these are "entertaining" to most people and not mind numbing and boorish as most card magic becomes . . . depending on the performer, and that's the big key; If YOU are entertaining as a person then it generally doesn't matter what material you do so long as you design it for the sake of fun and amusement. Unfortunately there are very, very, very few card workers that can meet that mark. In nearly 5 decades around magic I can name about a dozen such characters that I could watch for hours at a time.

Be picky about the effects you do, don't try to be too fancy or technical, and develop material that fits your vision of self and how you want to be seen and remembered. This is what's most important.

What trick are you best at?

Mac King does a cards across routine on stage and it plays huge. It is the simple trick that most magicians know but with "one degree" more added to it. A simple raincoat which he claims is a cloak of invisibility, hilarity ensues. Cards are small on stage, the tricky part is to take the simple close up trick and make it larger than life. Or alternatively you can just make the props over-sized. But I would do a self working trick with large cards not only is it easier to work with but seems "cleaner" since large cards are pretty out of the ordinary for laymen.

Thanks!

I have one more question - What force you can do with jumbo cards? I can hardly do the hindu force, but is there any other forces?

If i had to do it with only cards heres what i would do exactly (p.s i dont have links to performances but if you look them up you should be able to find them on youtube)

Opener: card to mouth IN THE AUDIENCE being very interactive, 673 king street

Middle: Ace fining routines, CAAN, 3 card monte, card to impossible location,

Closer: "the worlds most difficult card trick" by Brynolf and Ljung (i think i spelt it right) (found on Penn and Tellers fool us show)

Thats how i would do it (with little knowledge on stage magic) but thats what suits my skill and my performing style

I know these tricks, but I think that people won't see what I am doing, because there is no camera and screen. Except card to impossible location, that I think will work for me. And I tried riffle force, but I can't do it with jumbo cards.

Thanks.
