Howdy guys,
I just joined today kinda stumbled upon this site and read alot of the forums, all in all you seem like a group of people intelegent in your fields of magic. so i ask this question, im going to peforming a stunt where i hang 70 feet in the air in a straight jacket and have to escape in 5 minutes before the rope releses and i fall to my death. The straight jacket IS real! but anyways the question is do any of your guys have any insite on this stunt good or bad anything helps.

Thanks

1.) holy crap youre an actual escapist?
2.) or are you...?

anyway, i thought it was incredibly funny how you just wrote in "have to escape in 5 minutes before the rope releses and i fall to my death" without any emotion. haha. I have no experience in the escapes field whatsoever (unless you count lockpicking). I havent heard about anyone else who does escapes on t11. Good luck with the whole not falling to your death thing though. :D

My advice is not to die.

But asides from that I can't really help you out there because I don't do escapes.

P.S. Welcome to Theory11

I've got a bit of experience with escapes, I've not played with inverted jacket escapes, but I'm guessing it makes the escape technically a little easier with gravity on your side!

-Still, the spectators don't know that ;)

My advice when performing escapes is to make them sound as big and bad as poss. What ever you're escaping from is the most difficult model and the most notorious out there. I tell people that you have to dislocate your wrists to escape from my Hiatt speedcuffs, that they're notoriously the most difficult cuffs to escape from in the world... I do the cuff escape with a ziplock bag over my head so it looks real slasher movie :p

Whether all that 'fact' mentioned true or not, i don't know! But it doesn't matter, you're lucky enough to have BIG visuals on your side, so make the most of it.

I'm sure you know the drill, wait until the last 30 secs to escape, without making it tooooo boring, You'll do great I'm sure man, but always - Safety first! The first thing I do with the ziplock is make an inconspicuous hole in there so I can breathe if needs be, but as with all escapes, you can never be too careful!

Hope that helps man! And good luck with your stunt!

Hey, where in Calgary are you doing your escape?? I really dont know much about straight jacket escapes, but if you go to the vanishing rabbit (in Calgary) and talk to Brent or Scott they should be able to help you out.
