Why are Theory11 cards so durable?

I'm wondering why Theory11 decks are always pretty durable, and by extension great for practicing cardistry. A lot of kickstarter decks, for instance, are also printed by uspcc; but they don't ever seem to be as good as the Theory11 decks, why is that?

Q1. Most Kickstarter decks are printed at the bare minimum quantity that the US Playing Card Company will produce, and that usually means they are printed on machines that do not do as good of a job. theory11 on the other hand is USPC's largest custom playing card customer. We print exclusively on the better equipment, and our orders are paid attention to very well while printing. There are perks to being the biggest customer!

Kickstarter projects - usually 2500 decks.

theory11 projects - Many thousands of decks larger.

Not always. Just read the description. If they are printed with Q1, they will handle much similar. And depending on the stock, they wont feel too different (TXI stock might be a bit softer than the usual crushed stock, since it uses the Eco stock I think, not sure though).

Correct. If a Kickstarter deck prints in large enough quantity to print Q1, they are likely going to feel pretty great. It is simply an issue with quantities. Most Kickstarter decks are not successful enough to make Q1 happen. There absolutely are some that do, but with everyone and there dogs out there trying to create their own deck (resulting in tons and tons of terrible / bad / mediocre / somewhat good designs) the market gets a bit flooded. Only really great designs with really great promotion can manage to squeeze Q1 quantities out of a Kickstarter.
