Hi guys Christmas just ended and my birthday is coming up so I've got some extra cash to throw around. So my question to you is out of these 4 DVD's which do you enjoy most or reccomend most.
Surfaced By Chad Nelson
Dangerous: Mystique By Daniel Madison
Avenue By Dorian Rhodell
or Reflection By Bill Goodwin ...thanks...

Out of these I'm looking mainly at Surfaced or Reflection. However I've heard surfaced is quite difficult. Thanks for the answers.

i own surfaced and reflection and i say they are both great. obviously the clipshift will take a wile to learn but it is a fantastic move. reflection is filled with good commercial card magic that i use day in and day out. i also own mystique wich is a great dvd but i cant say i use the material in that as much as i use the clipshift and the material in reflection. hope this helps

Anything but Surfaced. Unless you really really really like colour changes and they are the reason you live life.

Yeah but it the clipshift is like a utility move... it can be used as a palm or pass aswell and the tricks taught are very visual...

I've posted my opinions on the clipshift before, but I'll explain them in brief.

The clipshift is a jack of all trades move. The key point being, that it's a master of none. Except perhaps a colour change. Admittedly, it's a cool colour change. Sure, you can use the clipshift to palm a card. But it's got nothing on a Hugard Top Palm or a Diagonal Palm Shift. Sure, you can use the clipshift to shift a card. But it's got nothing on a side steal, pass, or most other controls.

The point being, that what's the point if it can do all those things, if it can't do any of them well?

Anything the clipshift can do, other moves can do better.

And frankly, your magic deserves better than average sleights. If you can use a better sleight, not having to learn the better sleight is no excuse for performing a routine badly.

I understand where the utility move idea comes from. It appeals to a lot of people because you only have to learn one hard move, and after that, you can do everything with it. But again - it just doesn't do any jobs better than its already existing counterparts.

So ultimately, it comes down to how important performing strong magic is for magicians - which is why I never recommend Surfaced, unless you really like the colour change. If you want your magic to be the best it can be, then it's not the way to go.

Get Reflection. Amazing material and things you will Actually use. Yeah, clipshift is something you would use too, but Chad's style is very fast, and the tricks aren't that great. Criterion is okay but the vanishing of aces is just repitition. All in all, Reflection is a great buy. Very great stuff. :)
