It's a totally cool effect. It is going to be even stronger if you put some presentation into it. I'll ask you the same questions Paul Draper once asked me.

1. What is your character?
2. Why are you performing?
3. What is your power?
4. Why should we watch you?

A good presentation will help us answer these questions.

Performance can't be faulted 4/5
No speech or patter? 1/5
No Hollywood production values with Chris Mayhew pulling faces in the background? 1/5

Overall opinion of your video; There's nothing wrong with it but there's nothing really right with it. Cool to show friends and family that may not live near you but it doesn't add anything to magic or youtube.

I'm not sure what I just watched... Did you inflate the balloon then pull the stem off of it, then reattach it?

I'm not familiar with the effect but I think it would probably play better if you could separate your hands more. As it is it looks like your trying to cover something up too much.

He doesn't really need a character or any of the questions you asked answered. He's just a guy who wanted to show a clip of him doing a magic trick, not a professional entertainer/whatever.

My problem with it is that I thought this was going to be you performing for an actual audience and not just your random headless youtube video with no context to it.

Overall it's a nice effect, but you didn't do it any justice at all.

Well the entire what's your character vs no character argument belongs only in the groups who are serious about being a professional magician. If you just want to do some magic and entertain friends, family, or have something cool to do at the next party you go to then I don't think character, or originality is nearly as important as say someone who is booking gigs every weekend, and working 8+ days a month.

For this specific video I get the impression it's just what we see. Someone doing something for a video camera to post up on youtube. To that extent there was nothing technically wrong with the video. He didn't flash, but there was nothing spectacular about it either.

Kind of my point, there really wasn't spectacular about it. It felt like I was watching a Sankey DVD where he does nothing but perform for a mute camera man.

Thanks for the tips! But yeah i was only performing for the camera, probably should have added patter though, so i see what youre saying there.

I'm gonna go with what David Blaine said in TA about people who could do magic for real. They wouldn't talk all too much, they would just go "here look" and it's done. A lot of tricks require that you speak for sure. I don't feel like this is one of them since it's so simple and visual. You are taking a part off of the balloon and putting it back. You don't need to go abra kadabra.
