Problem with Smoke

I received Smoke 2.0 earlier today and after watching the instructional video I still can't open the gimmick. I've tried pulling and wiggling as hard as possible, getting permanent marker on my clothes in the process because of how much force is required.

Any tips on opening it? Because I can't do it by hand. I even tried with my teeth and it wouldn't budge.
