The Best trick from Mark Wilson’s Complete Course in Magic

This is a fantastic book. I once made a list of favourites from Mark Wilson's book, as suggested by various magicians. I posted the list here a couple of years ago - this link should get you there: https://www.theory11.com/forums/threads/favorites-in-wilsons-complete-course.50882/#/post-479588

    Tally Ho or Bicycle

This last piece of information is simply inaccurate - they are not printed on crushed stock. This used to be true, but I don't know if it's still the case. One reason Tally Ho decks were at one time popular with cardists was due to the circle-design on the backs. In today's marketplace there...

    Do I need Card College?

I heartily endorse the recommendations and advice given by RealityOne earlier in this thread. The fundamentals of card handling taught in Card College 1 & 2 are really foundational, and is the best modern treatment on the subject. Aside from giving instruction that is more clear, Giobbi...

    Tally Ho or Bicycle

Totally this. I'll toss in a link to one of my own articles about this as well: Factors That Affect the Handling of a Deck Here's a recent thread that is also relevant.

    Do tally-ho's really clump up?

David is completely right. Tally Ho decks are made of exactly the same card-stock and using the same processes as other USPCC-produced decks, including Bicycle decks. It's time to end the myth about Tally Ho performing better or worse than Bicycle decks. Most decks from USPCC will perform...

A sleight you regret not learning earlier?

Most of them. I wish that when I started with card magic as a teenager, I didn't jump straight to learning tricks, but had spent time learning the fundamentals of card handling properly first. I've recently worked through Giobbi's Card College 1 & 2, and wish I'd done that 20-30 years ago.

    Secret Magician

Out of curiosity, are you able to share with us the kinds of sleights and techniques you have mastered, and the kinds of material you are able to perform - even if it is just 'secretly' when you're on your own?

Riffle Shuffle with Bicycle Cards - New deck and beginner - Need Help!

Agreed. This has nothing to do with breaking in a deck first. See this article on that: Breaking in a New Deck: Why and How? It's all about technique with shuffling, and as others have suggested, getting direction from a reliable teacher (e.g. quality video) is the way to go to master this.

REVIEW: What is the best marked deck?

Ellusionist did create a "Series 1" and a "Series 2" of the 1800 decks, and there were some definite changes between them. With the help of the Internet archive, you can view the original product pages of the Series 1 deck and of the Series 2 deck. From what I recall, Ellusionist didn't have...

REVIEW: What is the best marked deck?

You're absolutely right that many people who own the 1800s deck don't even realize it is marked, or that it was created firstly for card magic. I've actually written an article about this very deck that I think you'll enjoy reading: The Perils of Selling a Magic Product to the Mass Market It...

    Which handles better?

This is all true, of course. And it's actually not Will Roya you are quoting, but me - that's a direct quote from one of my articles on his site :) Link: Factors That Affect the Handling of a Deck My point was that the two decks are different because: - the stock from the Red Wheels deck has...

    Book suggestions?

What an outstanding and carefully curated set of 10 books you've started your library with! That's an excellent foundation for a life-time of study. Including two books by Ortiz and Nelms should really help with your presentation and showmanship, and it's great to see those included. Your...

    Which handles better?

Most of what Magic Orthodoxy wrote is correct and helpful, but the above sentence is factually inaccurate and need correcting. ● DKNG Red Wheels - these are printed on USPCC's "crushed" stock. This means the paper goes through an extra process before printing, in which the stock is "crushed"...

    Recommendations

Sure, just use a One Way Forcing deck. Another option is a Mastermind deck. Search for both of them at Penguin Magic - you'll find them easily.

    Card Guard

That's because the Penguin Elite decks are from crushed stock. The solution isn't to use another card clip, but just to add in some advert cards or Jokers from other decks.
