    Need some ideas!

Sounds like a great opportunity for something simple and even gimmicked could work. Something like pen through dollar, or a dollar torn and restored could work. Maybe a two phase 3 card Monte or shell game even.

    Flashiest card trick?

Lol just spring the cards. That always makes people gasp. I always do Jokers Wild. I have my own presentation and it's what I use as an opener for a few of my sets.

    Having an Accomplice

Totally agree. It's theater. If you can accomplish the impossible for them, it doesn't matter how "fair" it is. Sleight of hand, gimmick, stooge, or plant. All fair game.

    Invisible thread

I think Haunted deck looks better with loops because of the elasticity. It looks a bit less connected to your hand because you have slightly more range of movement that causes the deck to move, which I think makes it more deceptive. But Eugene Burger did a really nice and simple version with...

    Injured...

Oh man, so sorry to hear that. That must be really difficult. I hope your recovery process goes well.

    old versus new

Totally. And those guys have all done their homework and study. The problem I find the hardest is that there is SO MUCH out there to learn! It may sound odd, but sometimes I read books and never actually try to do any of the magic in it, but just to see what others have come up with. I find it...

Struggling to get going as Beginnner

Welcome! One probably underused tool is video. Prop your cell phone up or use a webcam, but record your trick. Then watch it back from a real critical standpoint - as if you were watching someone else. Look for suspicious movements, awkward pauses, flashes (where a spectator might see something...

    Thoughts on color changes

I love the snap change! I do it whenever I can for people, which is surprisingly often.

    Thoughts on color changes

I love color changes. Mostly because I remember exactly how I felt when I first saw one. I bought the trick and down the magic rabbit hole I went.... This is what I saw and is my favorite effect to perform to this day: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/644

    In a Name

Great stuff here. Any description you use (Labels are just one or two word descriptions) is fine as long as you feel it is clear. I use the term magician to describe myself. I was just at a gig last night and introduced myself as the magician. ("Good evening! How is your night going? Good! I...

Duplicate signature from an audience member

Oz Pearlman also had an idea for signed card to different location plot on one of his penguin lectures. I don't know if i would try it unless the circumstances were right, but I can see it working.
