There are definitely a ton of ways to do it. The way Madison teaches it in the video, the card is about 3/4ths of the way out of the pocket. I can't see a spectator fully putting their hand into a strangers pocket when they can easily grab the corner of the card and pull it out. And of course...

Very true what you said. The only thing I would add is: This is true, and it doesn't necessarily mean sleights. A lot of the best magicians can have a great performance using all self-workers, because the presentation is good.

So true. The beauty of creating something is that there isn't a right or a wrong way of doing it. What works for one person may not work for the other, and where one person sees trash, another sees inspiration. Oooo who is it?
