Where to make your own deck?

I have used the bicycle personalized playing cards years ago. The finished product looked nice, but was horrible to handle. The worst quality coated deck I've EVER handled. The only cards that are worse, are my daughters go fish cards from the dollar store, and even those are similar in...

Saturday Night Contests: your best and worst

I really enjoy the fake reveal contests. I can think of tons of bad ideas for making an effect happen, so it's fun to use some of those ideas. I like the arts and craft ones (I've been so busy since Christmas and have missed some awesome contests! :(). I'm not a huge fan of the random guessing...

Has any professional magicians here try...

I have not. I did manage to pull off leaf once though. It worked very well and got wonderful reactions. They inspected it for a very long time trying to find some glue.

    Mystery Box Review

I have to say, I love the box. I do a lot of work with students and have used the box for a few events. I created some games where they have to find clues and various letters which lead them to the hidden location of the box and the leftover letters are the alpha combination. The box has gotten...

    Close-Up Pad substitutes?

Just a table cloth really. If you want it softer, add a kitchen towel underneath (experimenting with thickness). I made a large homemade one. I had a large piece of black velvet/velour fabric (but that would be pretty cheap to pick up I'm sure). I then went to a vehicle upholstery shop and...

    Double Lift Critiques

I think it looks great (as mentioned). I think the biggest help is if you get caught or not. If people are guessing about two cards or catching you, then you need to re-evaluate the lift (and get-ready). You might have a clunky lift, but your other moments and misdirection might allow for...

    Getting Nauseous Before a Show

Actors do a lot of relaxation before going on stage. Also vocal exercises and physical movement (stretching etc) is a big part of getting ready. These exercises can distract your mind from being on stage and also prepare you well. Try that!

    Ingestible cards

lol yuk. A mini deck would be best ha ha! I wonder if you split cards and removed the middle core... Oh but the chemicals!

    Failed magic

I will always remember what Jim Pace said to me when I asked "What do you do when the (invisible thread) string breaks?"He just gave me this weird look and said "It doesn't." The idea is that it's also important to practice - a lot. To the point where you are confident that things won't go...

    Is worth it?

I ask myself two questions: Will I use this? Can I afford it? If yes, then it's probably worth it. In this state of where magic is at, $10 is not unreasonable for an effect if it's something you will use (or teaches you something that you will use later). Is it the best deal ever? No, (a free...

    New Site Finally Here?

And I have to add, that one of the reasons I've always stuck around is that T11 has always operated and conducted itself with integrity and professionalism. With many chances to respond to people slandering T11 their responses have always been with clarity, confidence, integrity and as...

    Restaurant Magic

You need to approach the restaurant and sell yourself to them. Convince them that you can help them make money! (Lots of threads on this with some Google searching!) However there are a couple of other ways. One is to know the manager/owner. As most circumstances, who you know is so important...

    Restaurant Magic

Yes, basically you are there to help the waiting times feel shorter. So people waiting for food, or those waiting to be seated are great targets.

    New Theory11 Website Layout: Thoughts?

Looks awesome on mobile! I have a large monitor at work, and everything on the site is ginormous on it. But aside from the size 18-20 font on desktop, the look is really nice.

Today was pretty exciting. Story and a question.

That's super fun! I remember seeing my first professional magician live. I remember when I saw David Blaine's first special on TV. Magician's raged because he was doing the same tricks as many other magicians. Personally I, like you, find that encouraging. As far as skill goes, many working...
