How to Market Yourself as a Magician?

It's all good! School comes first.

Why do some spectators insist on messing with you?

Kolossal Killer is that good. You will just have to take my word on it. It's the trick that I always have on me and never fails to impress. A lot of those people that reviewed it probably have never actually went out and tested it.

Saturday Night Contest - Limited Options

For as long as I have been on here the contests have happened every week.

Saturday Night Contest - Limited Options

If I may give a recommendation, you need to angle the card when you do a snap change and motivate the change. Your card was parallel to the ground. I do the snap change at a 45 degree angle and trust me it helps. What I would have done is also brushed on the snap change card to give motivation...

Why do some spectators insist on messing with you?

Although I do like kolebear's suggestion. Make sure to show the card to the entire crowd next time so that way you can have them back you up.

Why do some spectators insist on messing with you?

Haha yeah this thread appears like they didn't even really read into what happened. You were using a force deck, they decided to troll you. I don't think there was anything you could have done if you did not have a challenging demeanor from the get go. We all run into those types of people who...

    Odyssey damage

That's a good point that I forgot. I use the liquid super glue and it can be a pain to apply sometimes. Take Casey's suggestion and opt for the gel super glue.

Thanks man! Hey would you be cool with consulting with me for some extra ideas I had with this effect? Like Skype or email if you are interested?

Saturday Night Contest - Limited Options

Thanks! Yeah I'm definitely going to refine the patter before I take it to the close up competition. I was kind of just winging it. The Manila Folder line was inspired by a joke by Scott Alexander. I was trying to mimic his style of creation when making this effect.

Saturday Night Contest - Limited Options

Here is my entry! It's the creation that I'm most proud of since it is 100% impromptu and can be performed anywhere. Every single object can be borrowed so no magic props or gimmicks are used. It plays well for stage as well as street. I call it: Impossibill! :D

    Odyssey damage

There really isn't a permanent solution besides hot glue. I personally just use super glue. Even with the super glue, I can use it about 50-100 times before the "things" come loose and I have to reapply super glue.

    Acme Hole

I had a theory on how this was done but the trailer looked "clean" so I wasn't quite sure (my best guess was it worked like a flap card). I couldn't see any seams in the trailer so I thought maybe he was on to something but I was still hesitant to check it out. My golden rule of buying magic...

    Favorite Magicians?

My favorites are Harry Houdini, Fred Kaps, Slydini, Dai Vernon, Harry Blackstone, Juan Tamariz, Shin Lim, Shawn Farquhar, Mahdi Gilbert, Richard Turner, David Copperfield, Paul Harris, Cyril, and David Blaine. I also have to make special mention of Robert Houdin for making magic what it is in...

Saturday Night Contest - Limited Options

During the performance could we use an item to help boost the performance (i.e. using a scarf that we were wearing as a blindfold) if it no way adds to the creativity of the effect but rather just adds to the impossibility of the performance?

Kolossal Killer is another great out.

    People Are My Problem

I've never thought about that before. It actually makes a lot of sense now once the whole reason/vision behind something no longer has that passion. What a scary situation.

    People Are My Problem

Have you considered stage magic? You will have complete control with who you are interacting with if you choose to bring a spectator up on stage. Another benefit is the crowd won't seem like individuals of hundreds of people but rather hundreds of people that seem like an individual (sorry if...

    Worst trick you've purchased

For me it's between Change by Lloyd Barnes, Stay Cool by Tobias Dostal, or Cut by Ran Pink. All of those effects have misleading advertising, do not work like how they were shown, and are astronomically overpriced for what you get.

Favorite trick no longer on the market

You are thinking of Frozen by Adam Grace. I have that effect and I think it's pretty good. Sansminds took the concept a bit further with Absolute Zero but I haven't gotten to try Absolute Zero out myself. I think I will just stick with Frozen for the time being. Quantum Space is my favorite...
