The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris - JUST STARTED

I am super excited to begin this book today. I ordered it from Scholastic Book orders with my students classroom book orders. It arrived and I am diving in. I'll review it afterwards for everyone.

    Monarchs Family

Theory11 should run a sale on the Green ones right before St. Patrick's Day. It just happens to be my birthday that day as well. :)

Some problems with Ed Cooke's method of memorizing a deck?

Food for thought. I'm going to take this a completely different direction than what you thought. Have you ever thought of just playing the easy way out where a card is selected, returned to the deck at a seemingly fair position, then ribbon spread the entire deck face up....."appear" to be...

    Vapr or S.S.S

Honestly I've watched countless magicians try to look cool using smoke devices, even in magic competitions, and it just comes off as being "cheesy". I've seen numerous guys have issues with their device breaking or not functioning correctly when it needed to which then caused complete...

How Long Does a Deck Last?

This is the EXACT reason I always highly recommend buying bicycles in bricks at Sam's Clubs, Costco, or BJs wholesale. You can throw them away after a few gigs and not feel bad at all. People who think you "have" to have the super expensive decks to perform are nuts...ha ha. Cards are meant to...

Which is better honest, extream burn 2.0 or prophet?

I use Extreme Burn as well.

    What's up with this?

Spot on. Children/Kids magic does not fall under just one heading. It is definitely broken up into these subgroups. I always always ask the client what age the majority of the children are who are attending the party for this very reason of selecting my material.

    "A Night To Shine"

Thanks Chris. I appreciate that. They immediately hired me back for next year before I even left the building so they must have liked what I did. :)

    "A Night To Shine"

What did your set look like? Take everything you know about "sets" and throw them out the window. I had sets in mind, but after the first 2 tables I abandoned ship on sets and went with my gut instinct of what effect would work or be most impressionable for this particular person. Some of...

    "A Night To Shine"

Last night I had the honor and privilege to entertain guests at a huge event called "A Night To Shine" which is an amazing night of dancing, dinner and fun for teens-adults with disabilities. It had everything from limos to party buses, photo booth, to catered food to caricature artists and...

    Performing Professionally

This is my 18th year entertaining semi-professionally. I am an elementary school teacher and started out just by performing for my 3rd graders at the time (2000) which quickly then spread via word of mouth to parents who then wanted me to work birthday parties. This led to other events and...

How much do magicians usually earn performing? How much do you earn?

It all depends on your demographics and as mentioned previously, how many working performers are in your area. My area is on the low end economically so people around me won't pay much more than $150 for a half hour bday party show. It's even more difficult when people in your own IBM ring, then...

    Very dry hands

Another cream that works well for dry cracked skin is Udder cream. Do not use this before practicing or performing but put it on the night before. https://www.google.com/search?q=Udder+cream&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj7x-ab8pTZAhWD6YMKHWlRBsMQ_AUICigB&biw=1280&bih=655

Ring magic, no gimmick, no ring included in the order

Look up Ed Ellis "Twistration" and "Lift Off" in the Marketplace. Very powerful and cheap. Ed and I shot this footage year ago and I still use both of these in my close up every weekend.

    Very dry hands

Try a little Purell on your hands. The alcohol in it dries you hands and takes away the sticky/sweatiness. I also used to leave a small rolled up paper towel in my suit coat pocket to dry my hands on it by putting my hand down in my pocket and just squeezing the paper towel ball.

Asking for tips without being awkward?

I have never in 18 years asked for a tip at all, but then again I've never been in a busking scenario. Typically I've already been paid and am working an event or at a restaurant. I just feel awkward "hinting" that I'd like some cash from them. On the other hand I have had a waiter or waitress...
