    Brick & Mortar

Unfortunately both of our local brick and mortar shops didn't last more than a year in our area. It is NOT a tourist area at all and the only customers were magicians (we are all in the same IBM ring) who could get the stuff way cheaper online. Without a steady stream of non-magicians coming in...

    Packaging

I just checked your order...looks like towards the end of Feb. beginning of March. LOL. I'm totally kidding. I have nothing to do with the packaging or orders but thought it would be fun to mess with you since I too get that excited about magic tricks arriving in my mail. Ha.

    Daniel Madison New Madisonist

I wish I could "like" this a thousand times. :)

    Abraca-DAMMIT by Ben Zabin

Who actually soiled their pants while performing on a riverboat gig? Which well known star from Vegas actually missed his flight to Japan to board a cruise ship? What do you do when your closing illusion falls off the back of your truck while unloading for the big show? Yikes! Unfortunately, we...

    Cleaning playingcards

Seriously just invest in brick of cards from Sam's, BJs, or Costco's. Best way to go. You can get like 12 decks for $15. When my cards get to the point you are talking about I either use them for practicing mercury card folds or just throw them away and crack open a new deck.

    Don't Underestimate the Invisible Deck

You can definitely grow up and be a responsible adult and also earn plenty of money performing. The love of magic and the enjoyment it brings does keep us in a child like state of wonder. I wouldn't change it for the world.

    Don't Underestimate the Invisible Deck

Hey Guys, I just wanted to post this because I was out at the bar last night for a friends birthday party. Of course like most of you do...I load my pockets up with my effects just waiting for someone to want to see something...ha ha. I performed many effects flawlessly....no flashes...

    Perfect Square or Double Cross?

Tough call my friend. I do not own either, but truly think both look amazing to the spectator/audience. One thing that I think you definitely want to consider is this: which would you rather be performing strolling? You aren't going to take the cubes with you and put them in your pockets or...

What do you think about this performance?

I absolutely loved routine 2 and 3 for sure. I had a smile on my face the entire time with my head up close to the laptop screen....ha ha. Thanks for sharing.

Which type of velvet is Shin Lim using?

As mentioned...go to a craft store and go to the fabric section. You'll find plenty of colors, textures, and different levels of softness all on big rolls.

    You used your sleeves

Even when I am performing with my dress shirt on, if it is close up, I will unbutton my sleeves and roll them up a few times exposing my wrists and forearms. I do this usually right after my opener. This dismantles their preconceived notion and theory of "it came from" or "it went up" your sleeves.

Is Chris Angel Any Good With Cards

We are in the entertainment business. At the end of the day all you need to do is ask yourself if you put a smile on someones face, had them ponder reality for a moment, etc. THIS to me is the most important part of our craft. I could care less how many sleights a magician knows. All I want to...

    Burnt out

As mentioned, you definitely need either a break from magic completely or just change the field. If you typically only do cards, then why not try a nice chop cup routine or something with rubber bands? You'll be amazed with your new energy and excitement by simply changing it up.

    Performing Last Night

First of all I love the fact that you were able to step back and actually evaluate yourself and be honest with us. This is a crucial part of growing professionally. The more you perform the more you'll find new ways to mess up an effect or the patter. This is imperative for "honing" the effect...

    Can't understand books?

I won't repeat all of the great aforementioned advice as there is a ton of it above my post. I think a lot of it boils down to your learning style and method. What works best for you to get from point A to point B? It shouldn't matter to anyone else here what your style of learning is. Don't...

    Why do magicians dislike mentalism?

Personally I think a lot of it has to do with the entertainers approach and personality. If he or she comes off as arrogant and displays oneself of someone who has special powers who can just provide secret information then it gets a bit boring. For example: My wife and I watched Banachek at the...

    GiG questions

Okay I'll let you in on something I've done before and it works :) No, it is not my idea. You develop a good relationship with one of the waitresses or bus boys. You give them a $5.00 bill prior to your work shift and have them bring it over to you while you are performing at a table and have...

    What do audiences really think?

Thank you for the post Chris. A plethora of information given by Josh. I would most definitely want to hear someone give me honest feedback and say they didn't like a certain effect at all and give me reasons why than just tell me, "Yes...that was really neat." but in all actuality, just say...

Flash Paper Couture: Hot fashion or up in smoke?

Honestly I wouldn't try anything with large amounts of flash paper in one central location. You are just asking for something to go wrong. Not necessarily "if" but when. I've burned holes in articles of clothing and a brand new close up pad trying to do "more" with flash paper than what was needed.

Honest Criss Angel Review from Last Night in Akron, OH

Yeah, when I was in Vegas I chose to see Penn and Teller instead of Believe. I had heard back reviews of Believe as well, but figured since he was coming so close to my area I would give it a go and I was not disappointed at all. I truthfully enjoyed his performance and really liked seeing his...
