    Stage Magic is HARD!

I love the intimacy of close up magic. I love being able to really see each person and make sure each one is equally engaged.

Me Performing Magic for Mat Franco LIVE!!!!!

Hey great stuff! That's super fun. So how did this come to fruition?

Different settings one can perform magic

It's semantics but I would separate: Close up walk around (think cocktail party or trade show and table hopping Busking or street show could be for a few surrounding your table or a show for a larger crowd. Street magic is closer to walk-around but involves wandering around accosting strangers

    Hummer floating card tips

I hear you about the wax. Some really nice wax is actually beeswax. Just find a beeswax candle that is wrapped instead of solid. Like below. This is much thicker and works great. As Edward mentioned above, you really need to work it in well regardless of the wax you use. Or if you wear glasses...

'Floating bills' who does it right?

I dislike pretty much every floating bill effect save a couple. Far too obvious methods. Nearly any method using IT looks exactly like what it is. David Copperfield's Floating Rose performance does a nice job (with a napkin rather than a bill), and I also like Steve Fearson's floating cigarette...

    Hummer floating card tips

Welcome to the forums! I remember I got this when I was quite young. I put it away for a few years, and pulled it out again and was able to figure it out. IT's a tad knacky, but nothing you won't pick up quickly. I would recommend that when you're learning and practicing, that you use a...

How Do I Review Products on The Wire?

You cannot review on a mobile view of the wire. I don't know if you can do a web view on iphone, but on Android browsers you just choose to view full site/desktop site. Then you can see the review area -it's just below the product description. And if you're review is published, you get 10 Elite...

I think Sankey fooled Penn and Teller

I suppose Jay was also trying to sell an effect, so it makes sense to that degree. After watching it, it loos like he's trying to just throw them off, but yes I think you're right. I bet if he didn't try to look dirty, they would have figured it out though too.

For those who have participated in the 'Fake Reveal' contests

Ha ha, just had to share this comment I got today: "You monster for ruining Jason England's latest effect even though this is all wrong. So everyone just buy the thing like I did..." Two things come to mind:

    Force From A Bag?

I don't know specific references for the bag (but yes there are some nice options), however I believe that the product Vapr has a remote for smoke control.

I think Sankey fooled Penn and Teller

I felt the same way with David Regal's performance. I'm really surprised at the choice.

Best effect for $50.00 and under?

    So ridiculously shameless... :(

Best effect for $50.00 and under?

My favorites: On the spot by Gregory wilson is fantastic. As well I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Stigmata. However if you want to really have something visual I would be remiss to not recommend Cointum-leap ;p

    Recommendations on tricks

Welcome! Don't forget to check out the books and videos in your library! I found a wealth of stuff there when I was starting out!

When do you make the switch?

I would agree, I think it's about the performers attitude more than anything. Once they start performing for people (rather than just playing tricks or bar bets), their attitude changes. A young kid can perform at birthday parties and is far more a magician than a person using magic tricks to...

    Any recommended Montes?

Oh yes I forgot about the Ultimate 3 Card monte - very fun. I perform color monte routine with a 2 of hearts, a 2 of spades and a joker. I should bust that out more. I often forget about it.

Good Sponge ball routine or Balls and cups?

Sponge balls are relatively simple to learn, and are actually a fun way to learn sleight of hand because not only is it easier to learn, but also teaches you to get into other people's space (touching their hands etc). You might start by picking this up and watching the video that comes with it...
