How do you explain magic morals?

I will be the one to throw a wrinkle into the mix...ha ha. Our IBM magic club has a library of DVD's. Probably over 200 of them that had been purchased by the club. We allow paid members of our club to "check" them out just like you would a book out of a library. Is it wrong? Maybe. Also...

    instant resetting routine

Welcome to the world of table hopping as well. I very quickly learned that I needed 3 sets of 3 effects that instantly reset because as you traveled from table to table you didn't have time to bust out a bang ring, or reset a stack within a deck of cards. My best advice is use items that at...

    Stage Show

I must be really confused about this "stage" show. You said "ring thing" ? As in Garrett Thomas's Ring Thing? On a Stage? I have to be missing something. Collin, I'm also with you on the 1089 prediction that required the use of a stooge. If you did 3 effects I don't think that would...

    Close up pad

I'm not trying to sound mean but sometimes threads have been around for awhile that would benefit our member if they would just do a little leg work and use the "search" function. http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?38128-How-to-Make-your-own-Close-up-Card-Mat-Benefits!

    Simple - One Thing Happens

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Why spend hours upon hours trying to master some 10 phase routine, with 5 card pinky pull downs, etc. Simple and direct is what audiences comprehend and remember the most in the long run any how.

    Simple - One Thing Happens

I'm reading David Regal's Approaching Magic. On page 259 he shares some valuable information in regards to the power of magical effects where just one things happens. Consider the plots the lay public becomes fascinated with. All can be simply expressed: * The woman was cut in...

Saturday Night Contest - Backstage Pass

I think I'll pass on this one. Ha Ha. Sorry...had to make a pun.

My trick for the Today Show contest

Not too shabby. I can't say I've seen this exact effect but I just saw David Regal do something very similar last weekend at a lecture in Michigan involving a signed spectators card transposition into a clear box like yours but the box was a bit smaller.

    Rope Magic LIVE Performance

Pete, your rope work looks great. I'm assuming much of your routine comes from Fiber Optics which is outstanding. Your audience LOVED your routine. If this were just for young kids though, which it wasn't, I would cut the routine down a bit to just about 2-3 minutes of moves or young children...

    New Magic Series!

I don't do any coin magic either but I love watching nice coin magic. Eric Jones is one of the best I've seen live. I must say I have a few ideas / solutions to how the effects were done but I'd rather not know because I love just "enjoying" the visualization of it. Thanks for sharing your...

    Blake Vogt Card Splitting

http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/859#reviews This video is what helped me get my start on card splitting. I made a few cool gaffs and the video is worth your money.

10 Things You Need to Do To Improve Your Magic

Very true Steer. Out of the 30 guys in our ring I probably only rely and listen to about 5 of them who have more working experience and knowledge than me. However, that being said, those 5 guys have taken me quite a ways so I felt it was worth it. I think every ring probably has their arm chair...

10 Things You Need to Do To Improve Your Magic

Excellent list and I would also add that if you can find a local IBM ring or magic club within an hour of driving distance...definitely join. You will be able to learn so much very rapidly and the networking is HUGE. They will probably only meet once a month so don't feel like it will not be...

Coming Back From a Long Break

Honestly I would stop buying things and just pick like 3 effects that would make a good working set and start performing them over and over again for people other than your friends and family. You will become so proficient at those effects and their workings that you will become so excited to...

    Great tip my Friend!!

If I know it is going to be a scorcher like that, sometimes I will skip the shirt and tie under the sports coat and just do a V-neck T-shirt under the sports coat if I need to look dressed up. If it is a little more laid back or casual I will wear a nice golf polo style shirt that is made out...

Ken Klosterman Interview and Magic Collection

Unfortunately I do not know anything about Club 808. I just happened to stumble upon the video on my Twitter feed. I did meet Ken Klosterman once at a magic auction a few years ago.

    Stage Show

Yousaf, I understand your frustration, but man, it sure puts you in a predicament now to try and throw something together. If someone would have taken what I was good at and then a week before the show said I was NOT allowed to do such and such, I probably would have said then I am going to...

    Your "Box" of Stuff

Liquid, I think Draven is referring to things that have not seen the light of day in a few years. Items you may have purchased awhile back and have practically forgotten about them. Not just listing the current things you own. Heck if we all did that I bet we'd have hundreds if not thousands of...

    Your "Box" of Stuff

I have a Lota Vase, The Thing by Bill Abbott, a Dove Pan, a large square circle production and a few other props that are collecting dust. The Thing has not even been used in performance yet even though it was purchased 3 years ago. It was something I just "HAD" to buy after I saw Bill demo it...
