    Is Cardistry recognizable?

What exactly makes you think I'm angry over an example? The fact that I was speaking in complete sentences without chatspeak or smileys? I'm making a point, duder. You guys talk a big game about increasing the visibility of your art. And that's great, but you need the nuts and bolts. And I...

    magic tricks

Joe Cocker is a great vocalist in spite of having objectively mediocre technique. And yet, there are a thousand guys out there who tried to sing like him without refining their technique, blew their voices out, and had to quit singing. Dude, that's an appeal to popularity fallacy. The fact...

    magic tricks

Okay. I'll bet you $100 that in 20 years time, people are still buying copies of Mark Wilson's, Royal Road, Modern Coin Magic, and the Tarbell Course. Are you in? You are aware that books can contain pictures, yes? Anyway, the argument that visual media are automatically better at...

    magic tricks

That's not really a style so much as a cluster of words that abut each other to form a sentence. Could you be more specific? That said, what books do you own? If you don't have books, you're doing it wrong.

    Invisible deck

I like sriracha sauce. But if I used it as the only seasoning on every meal, I'd probably be in a pretty sorry state.

The proper pathways to a good cardistry future

I worked them into street magic act from about 2007 to 2010, but my style just got more and more minimalist and I really didn't have much of a reason to do them anymore. On top of that, I have a handicap. I'm 90% left-handed. I literally cannot move the last two fingers of my right hand...

The proper pathways to a good cardistry future

I don't flourish anymore. I'm a mentalist. I'm here to add a bit of knowledge of performance theory and business, both of which are in short supply on this particular sub-forum. That probably sounds kind of douchey, but most of you guys are not out there performing.

    Is Cardistry recognizable?

Red Bull? Like the energy drink? Well, if you're to try that you better have one hell of a pitch ready. This is a multi-million dollar company and they're going to need some serious convincing that you bring enough value to the table that it would be a good move for them to feature you in...

The proper pathways to a good cardistry future

There's a million different ways to do that, guy. I'm not really sure where to start. I suppose I'd recommend a copy of Robert Greene's "Mastery." It's quite easily the best book he's ever written and bereft of his usual clinical, amoral manifesto writing style.

The proper pathways to a good cardistry future

That's pretty vague, dude. Let's qualify that statement a bit. How do you intend to elevate it? Are you talking about mechanical innovation? Advancing performance theory? Increasing visibility? Going professional? Let's settle on that. The first thing to do is take "anything" and boil it...

    Is Cardistry recognizable?

I'm in too good a mood to argue, so whatever you say. ... I guess that's one of those "you had to be there" jokes? What doors and where? That I think is the problem. The prevailing attitude seems to be a shotgun approach. Let me just spitball for a minute to illustrate my point...

    Invisible deck

I'm going to politely disagree as there have been some very nice DVDs that explore the possibilities of the gimmick. Jay Sankey's Invisible for example is one of his better works. I know it sounds like I **** on DVDs a lot, but only because so many of them are crap. While Jay's work tends...

Cutting it very tight there. Did you explain this to them? Also, be more specific. What books do you own?

    Pure Smoke vs. VAPR

If you got Weta Workshop and Industrial Light and Magic working together on The Lone Ranger, would that have made the movie any less terrible in terms of writing and acting?

    VAPR ideas

Alright. What the hell. I could use a creativity exercise. -Borrow a page from Sean Fields' brand of mental magic. Metal bending with a D'lite and smoke device to create the image of super heating metal to the point where it folds under its own weight. -Use some manner of coin purse or...

    Pure Smoke vs. VAPR

Watching the bickering over these devices makes me so glad I don't spend money on this sort of thing anymore. Too many moving parts. That said, out of academic curiosity I'm waiting a few months to see reviews from people who don't believe they have a horse in the race to see if VAPR...

    Retaining the Privacy!!!

Don't make it. Yeah, you can change the privacy settings on YouTube, but the fact is that if it's on the internet, it's there forever and people who find it will do with it as they please. Cost of doing business.

    Is Cardistry recognizable?

Cardistry wasn't even a word until a couple of years ago, and it was made up specifically to sell custom cards and DVDs. Before that it used to be flourishing and manipulation artistry. In fact, most of the people who actually perform this for money will refer to it only as that. If you try...

Saturday Night Contest : What You Think

There's a long and convoluted answer to that, but airing that in public isn't really appropriate and also because this is the internet. Since it's all text and none of us truly know each other that well, my attempts would most likely come across poorly. PM me if you actually want to know, but...

arrange this tricks for me please ?

What you're effectively giving us is a list of unrelated stuff and asking us to make something cohesive and interesting out of it without providing any sort of guidelines or context. In other words we're being tasked with making Thanksgiving dinner out of a frat house's fridge contents...
