    Luke Jermay - Buyer Beware

Well, since this topic has popped up, I think it's best to mention something else along the same lines. Luke has been lambasted recently on The Magic Cafe for something else entirely - re-releasing products, previously promised to be limited edition, and costing hundred of dollars each ($300...

    Thoughts on Failing

Hmm. Interesting. See, from my point of view, I don't see the point of the theory if it has to do with construction rather than spectator perception. For me, the latter is far more important. In the example Chrisfecto gave, I would just call it poor effect construction. I mean, if that's what...

Youth Magicians - What Would You Ask the Pro's?

I hear you, Cliff. I would add though, that I would go to different people for different solutions. Even amongst top pros, I think that some people will hold more useful advice than others depending on their areas of expertise. I would for example love to ask someone like Paul Vigil about...

ColorBlind - Seeing With The Finger Tips?

I believe it was in Product Questions, from memory (but I might be wrong).

    Thoughts on Failing

I would have phrase some of your thoughts in a different way (your thoughts re: CT, for one - yes, the key is to use it in the right situation - but your problem appears to be with poor usage of the move, not the move itself. Having said that, you're right, this is beside the point of the...

    Thoughts on Failing

Well, as mentioned below you, the Too Perfect Theory is hotly contested. I've seen a fair share of disagreement over what the theory even entails. Although I agree that magicians tend to spend too much time obsessing over needing something perfect - angle proof (learn to manage your audience)...

    Blue V5's

I was quite happy with the black and white - but I do agree that I much prefer the older design schemes.

    Smoke

Yes, Rick - Derren's effect is called Smoke, and is excellent. One of my first thoughts was go use this as a way of getting around the fact that it uses cigarettes - I don't smoke - but I think it would be a gross injustice of what it could do.

Youth Magicians - What Would You Ask the Pro's?

I would research who was going to be there, and buy and study their work. If I never had this chance, I would ask them about themselves first. Based on this information, I would ask them questions based on links that I thought we had in common. And I would ask for specific advice on something...

    Classic Colour Change Questions...

Yes, on that point, that is fair enough. What I would suggest though, before you discard the wrist kill (although for admittedly legitimate reasons) - consider if you have any tricks that require a reversed card. If so, then use the wrist kill, and you have your set up right there. Setting up a...

    Thoughts on Failing

Good thoughts guys, I'm glad that there have been some really good thoughts. I particularly like Craig's differentiation between magician and mentalist mentality (ugh, wish there was a nicer way to phrase that), and descartes' thoughts as well. descartes - about the Vernon trick... I like it a...

    Restless by Dan Hauss

Now now, no need to get nasty... You sound like a kid without his ice cream. Whilst I agree with you that flourishing is an artform, I will admit that there are several meaningful and significant objections to this opinion. All I'm saying is, please engage with what he says without insulting...

t11.bulletin - New Site Launched + New Products

Not really a big deal - there are many methods for impromptu blindfolded versions in many sources, as Craig I believe it was mentioned in another thread - I perform one...

t11.bulletin - New Site Launched + New Products

Yes, it was Webster - there are questions and comparisons being made to An Exhibition of Seeing at the Fingertips, I believe it was called. I have no idea, I use other methods, but will be interesting to get a comparison from JB. I'm sure there's something that warrants this release.

    Thoughts on Failing

D - Fair enough, some good thoughts. I should clarify - By missing, I mean partial missing, not complete missing, unless we're talking about psychological forces as so forth - calculated risks. The things you mentioned in your first paragraph. But ultimately, I know that you are more than aware...

Try another browser. Some people have had problems. I haven't using the latest Firefox, and I hear Chrome has performed well too.

    Thoughts on Failing

Looking forward to it Liderc, thanks. I'm a little disappointed but not surprised more magicians haven't replied to the thread. Reading about it is very abstract and hard to imagine. See it working, and you'll appreciate why it's an important ploy.

    Classic Colour Change Questions...

With respect Zavaka, I think it's as natural a motion as you can ask for. It's only unnatural if you make a big move out of it. Stand up, relax your arm, and drop it by your side. Your wrist should now be facing towards your body. That's all the wrist kill is. It utilises the natural...

    Colorblind

Yep, the comparison with Penguin questions are coming in already as well, that's interesting. I do recall reading about it at Penguin a while ago. I also wanted to add that I've just had a look at the demo video, and although I won't be picking this up, I liked Jermay's handling - it gave me an...

    Favourite Card Controls?

I use/need very few controls. On the rare occasion I do, it's usually an effect specific control. I don't think I have a single trick where a traditional card control is used. Nonetheless, my favourites would be the Distortion Pass, the Midnight Shift, and Mike's Move, to name a few.
