    Noob Coin Question?

If you consider that it is not difficult to find coins in circulation for several decades, I think that really, it does not matter - unless you get gum or acid on the coins, or something like that, and seriously deteriorate them. Many people do prefer shiny coins for the visuals - but they're so...

    WOW - Can't Believe it

Whilst I may perhaps have used lesser words, I agree with Gus' comments as well. This isn't about how much you love magic. I have no doubt that you love magic with all your heart, and that you want to be a professional magician. The question here, though, is not about magic, but about the...

    Tarbell Course In Magic?

I think to balance out the two opinions, I would say this: The Tarbell Course, in relation to teaching magic, should be approached one lesson at a time. In relation to more experienced magicians however, its value may perhaps lie in its massive amount of content, and therefore as a reference...

A few questions about magic (warning: n00b alert!)

Hey Sean, thanks for your question. No worries about being a newbie. 1) You already have a theme! Since close up is your expertise, you should have no trouble picking effects either. Why do you ask us if what you have said is true? I apologise if this sounds blunt - and it isn't intended to...

    Misdirection well applied. Learn.

I mentioned misdirection to a layman today after I performed for him, and he understood what I meant, and we talked about it. I think it is a term that has, at least to some extent, permeated the external society.

Bobo's Modern Coin Magic Old or New

I don't own the new one, and I'm not a coin magician, but everyone I've ever talked to who actually does own it, recommends the new one. Sorry I can't be of any more help. This question has been asked before though, do a search and there are other answers from memory.

    The so called orbinase change

Oh for goodness sakes, do some research. It took me under a minute to find 5 different publications involving Roger's work - some as a compilation of his work, and other situations where he contributed pieces to magazines.

    Best Method to Selling Effects

Sean Waters is amongst the cream of the crop. Congratulations on getting your effect out there - best of luck with it.

    Misdirection well applied. Learn.

Nice post Raul. I wanted to jump in here and add something on this point. One of the biggest mistakes with beginners in coin magic performing effects such as a coin matrix is exactly this. Done poorly, the effect ceases to be magical, but instead becomes a frustrating game of "Catch me if you...

    The Devils Picture Book

There are several sleights that are mentioned only in passing. A good working knowledge of card magic is helpful for the conjuring DVD. The psychological DVD is much harder to perform, but in my opinion represents an easier disc technically speaking.

    The Devils Picture Book

Funny, I was just demoing one or two sleights and effects from here an hour or two ago. The new website has been launched. Go to the magician's section of the website, where you can order The Devil's Picturebook.

    Magic on Youtube

GambitIce - On your coin matrix... Dude, you fumbled on your triple cut, and the ace production was too slow to be effective. You could see the individual cards slowly being slid out, which really defeats the purpose of a flourishing ace production. First phase: You're not confident enough in...

t11.bulletin : Essential Magic Conference - What You Need to Know

Thanks for that. I logged off after the first session because of the time difference (subsequent session started at 3AM). Looking forward to catching up. I agree with your thoughts about the first session though. Eric Mead is just incredible. He oozes knowledge and mastery of the art. My...

    What's so special about Wynns?

You make a good point, but just because it was cheap, doesn't mean it wasn't popular! - Case in point, Bicycles! On the other hand, you are right in saying, in my opinion, that D&D had a role in popularising them to a whole new generation of magicians, and certainly added to their value now that...

t11.bulletin : Essential Magic Conference - What You Need to Know

Sorry JDEN, I didn't think to do so. But it was pretty much your typical stock shot from XB - just in the middle of introductions of jolly looking men, and then suddenly, a shot of hands and rings, lol. I loved Eric Mead's talk. I think it was brilliant. Of particular interest was when he...

    Whats That Trick Called?

Hi Simon_Magic, Let me give you the full history, which is correct to the best of my knowledge. The trick is unofficially referred to, as popularised by YouTube, as the World's Greatest Card Trick. However, this is not its name. It is referred to, officially, by two names - Red Hot Momma, and...
