Old Bicycle Cards. What to do?

That's an absurd amount. Do you live in a particularly humid environment or have really sweaty hands? I practice for hours a day and easily get a month out of bikes, and I've been using Tallys for around 4. In order to maintain this sort of longevity, I wash my hands whenever they feel...

Old Bicycle Cards. What to do?

I second Malibu's thoughts. Save the deck for tricks that require extra cards, or effects that necessitate some abuse. Tearing, signing, burning, folding, etc. Practice your splitting with those if you want, or take them with you on outdoor trips where you don't want to risk your newer cards...

What if people ask to shuffle the deck?

I am going to suggest crimping also. Practice finding it for a bit and you'll soon be able to cut directly to it after a shuffle.

    Why Magic Needs Patter

I'm going to go out on a limb here and disagree. Magic doesn't need patter. Teller is a renowned magician, yet he doesn't speak. To make it more personal, I'm currently living in a with about 8 students, none of whom speak english as a first language and most of them only speak broken...

    Foundations or Ninja?

I can think of Money as a good limiting factor. Also, the biggest difference here is what you want out of the dvd. If you want to learn gambling sleights, pick Foundations. I have it and love it. But nothing on that dvd is easy. Ninja is more focused on 'magic' sleights, with tricks...

    Expert Card Technique DVD supplement?

I've heard good things about Daryl's dvds. Also, isn't there a dvd set for card college?

    New Zealand magicians.

I'm studying at Auckland University until July. I live in East Auckland at the moment. I'm up for hanging out sometime - shoot me a pm.

    Playing Card Concept

Oshi... cue speculation of a new deck. In other news - I found these the other day. A bit expensive, but absolutely gorgeous. I ordered a couple and will post a review whenever they get here.

    FLIPPED Series

Your handling looks awkward at times. In the reversal - the concept is neat, but all the cutting is unmotivated in my opinion. The false cuts in the last one are unconvincing. Either speed them up, switch to something harder to follow, or get a false shuffle in there. A false overhand...

    Playing Card Concept

I'm pretty sure they're symmetrical about the diagonal, which means when you rotate it 180 degrees it'll still look the same. A cool design regardless - how did you draw it up?

    Beginner Card DVD

False. Ninja 1 spends an enormous amount of time on Pass variations which is not beginner stuff. Ninja 2 is more advanced and therefore also not at a beginner level. If you want to go with E, Crash Course 1 isn't too bad. You'll learn about jogs and shuffles, the erdnase color change, and...

    Nervous of doing the Pass

Personally I have the card replaced as if I was going to do a Spread Pass, but perform the classic while I'm squaring the deck. It motivates my hands being together, as well as the movement. A bit of misdirection thrown in just in case, but I've yet to be called out on this method. It's all...

    Beginner Card DVD

Royal Road to Card Magic with Paul Wilson. Obviously get the book along with it, as the dvd doesn't go through *everything*. Still, with 5 discs you certainly get a lot and it's a good jumping off point.

    Original Ideas

Well damn, I wasn't expecting people to actually be interested in it. I've shot most of you PMs I think, but if anyone else wants a video or pictures of the mirror effect let me know.

    Original Ideas

A selected card's reflection being frozen in a mirror. The card appears in the reflection of the spectator without blocking anything out, and the card itself is not hiding in the background. The mirror and frame can be inspected, and the card that appears is actually the reflected version. It...

    Teachers

Some other thoughts on balloons. I forget where I read this, but a neat and attention grabbing trick, especially if kids are dozing, is to inflate 2 balloons, one inside the other and slightly smaller, and then pop the outer balloon. The resulting pop will have kids awake and looking for...
