I'll summarize what was a hugely long post that I just wrote and then lost. A good effect should support a performance, not hinder it. This effect is both obvious and you end filthy, and has an equally obvious clean up. It forces you to perform amazingly well to cover huge flaws in the trick...

I dunno man, one of the reasons I got into magic was I used to sit there and wonder how the hell does he do that, and I continued wondering that until I figured out my first trick. Most conversations lay people have about magic tricks are....."how the hell did he do that?"

Man I disagree, the clean up is one of the most obvious parts of the trick as there is a discrepancy, and it is fairly obvious. And anyone that sees a good magic trick will sit and think and wonder how it was done. I would counter argue that you aren't doing your job right if they don't go...

Guys this effect isn't that awesome imo. It has a huge cataclysmic flaw. If a specatator is really worried about it, they could replicate exactly what you did just by rote repetition, and figure the effect. Personally I prefer tricks where that's not the case.

It's definately not a pipe dream. I know this because use it on a daily basis and it has never failed me. It's a great one for hecklers, because you hand them the deck and you distract the hell out of them with bs like, "Now....I want you to really think about a card whilst you handle the deck...
