    Those reactions, what are those?

Magic isn't about making people believe you have "powers." Magic shouldn't be about the magician in the first place. It's about, as praetoritevong said, creating a lasting meaning. It's about those you're bringing the magic to, their experience. As soon as I begin making the magic about...

    Torn and Restored newspaper?

If I had to guess, I would say it looks very much like the Gene Anderson Tear.

    A Magician's Journal - "Diablos" - Feb 13

What an incredible turn of events! Just goes to show that hard work pays off eventually! Best of luck to you Luis, knock 'em dead!

    Poker Deal Demonstration

You could always just fall back to a simple criss cross cut. You could recap what you've done so far, and maybe hint at what you're about to do. Just my two cents, I like the premise of your idea though!

    New website vid!

It seemed kind of slow to me. A promotional video should be more visual, in a smaller frame of time. Not to say what you had wasn't good, I just think it should have been condensed and more visual.

    Acr

It just depends. The best advice I can give is to experiment. Try mixing it up a little, and see how your audience responds. If you can keep the routine engaging, I don't think you have to worry about going on for too long. Adjust your routine based on the response you get from your...

    Foreign Magician

Wow, what an odd comment. I wouldn't think the regional origin of a magician would really factor into the price at all.

    Drastic Bicycle changes.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the new box design either. However, I really haven't noticed any changes in the actual printing of the cards.

    Selection cards still?

Selecting the card yourself completely eliminates the need for a participant. Yes, you stay in control more if you never even let them touch a card, but you also isolate your participants. To me, that would seem like the magician was trying to show off, even if that wasn't the case. Even if...

Modern Colour Changes / Everywhere and Nowhere.

Something I've found works quite well is using a color change to "reveal" a selection, only for it to be wrong. The spectators then get to see a really cool effect within an effect, because you still have to produce their selection.

What do you think of this Cardini?

From a technical standpoint, the change was executed well. The "routine" however, needs work, in my humble opinion.

    Riffle Pass

Fantastic pass, your audience would never know anything happened. Great job, keep it up!

    "Specialty Decks" and Laymen Perception

Agreed, Ricky Jay really knows how to tell a story. I know it draws me in more. I like what you do with the 1800's, it's interesting and creative. Gives you a reason to use those particular cards.

    "Specialty Decks" and Laymen Perception

Does anyone feel that custom decks take away from the full magical effect your spectators should be feeling? Do you think that when someone immediately thinks the cards are unusual it takes away some of the power of your magic? Or does it help it? What do you all think?

    "Specialty Decks" and Laymen Perception

Very good point. I was just curious about how, if at all, it affected other magicians. Thank you all for your input, it made for a very interesting read. :)

    "Specialty Decks" and Laymen Perception

First of all, I just have to say that my new Bee Stingers are legits. They're probably one of my all time favorite "specialty decks." I think everyone knows what I mean when I say that. Cards that are produced exclusively from a big company in the magic industry. Basically, anything but the...

    The classic pass. Why?

I think the pass is essential sleight to add to your arsenal. Like previously stated by some other members, in certain situations, the pass is the only option. After a considerable amount of practice, it is one of the cleanest controls out there. To the spectator, nothing happens. They have...

    Controlling a Card

I totally agree with what you other guys have already said. Use the appropriate control for the appropriate trick. I find it's better a lot of the time to "shuffle" the deck on a down moment, when there's nothing else going on, like when you're between tricks. Nonchalant "shuffling" and...
