Yeah some of the greats will pop in from time to time, I've seen Harry Lorayne a few times.

Cardistry may be a good convincer for card magic

This has merit, I agree. Jerome Murat has one of the greatest presentations that argues this point. The same can be said for Marco Tempest. These performers have such strong messages that in the end that is what their magic is about. This is beautiful theater. In magic we have the opportunity...

Cardistry may be a good convincer for card magic

I feel like you're missing the point. I don't think mentalism is inherently "stronger" than card magic. The reason that we think of it as stronger is because it is strongly rooted in reality. Think of a pick pocket routine. These this is very strong magic but the audience imagines the...

Who Has Assisted David Copperfield Onstage?

Andrei, I would have loved to see the reactions of the crowd that would have been awesome :)

    Fourishes On The Wire.

Make sure to cleanup your background, not everyone wants to see your laundry. Maybe perform in front of blank wall or brick. Other than that it looks alright to me. I know if things get more advanced over the shoulder shots help me out a lot.

    "Think Stop" copied?

Aaron Fisher's version is basically public domain. It's probably the most common. I'm betting you could go to any public library and be hard pressed to not find a version of his effect explained. It's basically self working like this. Paul Wilson's is a lot more advanced he uses a few...

It's lively in certain sections. Their Cardistry section is terribly dead.

Who Has Assisted David Copperfield Onstage?

There's got to be a good story with that :)

I agree with this, also if you are looking for reviews there are a handful of good and bad reviews on a variety of dvds and aparatus.

I find that the communities at say theory11, Blue Crown, Ellusionist, or Dan and Dave are much smaller. When I ask for help the advice I get are from people who are familiar with the kind of magic I do. People who embrace the changes that are coming over magic. I have a magic cafe account and...

Who Has Assisted David Copperfield Onstage?

I really shouldn't be mentioning this in here. As a disclaimer I was a stupid kid in high school who wanted to impress his friends and I do not condone this type of behavior at any theatrical event. I've never been asked on stage but the second time I watched Copperfield live I "helped out" (at...

    Magicians are like "cover bands"

He's the president of the local magic club. He's a nice guy and very enthusiastic about the art but I have yet to see him perform at all. He's one of those old guys at the meetings that doesn't do much because he wants "to let the young guys have a chance to spread their wings". I'm sure you...

    Magicians are like "cover bands"

It's almost like because people aren't as familiar with our material people think it's okay to copy other peoples stuff. I sent a video to one of my well tenured magic buddies he shocked me. When I told him that I felt like I needed more funny bits in my magic but I didn't think I was that much...

Cardistry may be a good convincer for card magic

Yeah come to think of it the audience leaves thinking that Lennart is some sort of a crazy super computer. That's very believable in his performance and it makes his magic that much stronger.

    Magicians are like "cover bands"

That's an interesting point, and I can see its validity. The struggle I have with it is that I'm of the mindset that magic is strictly an art, so it's difficult for me to relate it to a sport like skateboarding. I would argue that cardistry and skateboarding have more parallels. I see both more...

    One More Idea

I have to kinda echo the above sentiments. As a plot it looks new. I actually think you might get aproved for this but that doesn't mean you should release it yet. The black outs are distracting, when you cut the cards it looks like you're concentrating really hard, you'll want to get to the...

Cardistry may be a good convincer for card magic

Like Nyman said as beautiful as Copperfield's flying is 90% of the audience who sees it understands that it is an illusion. We have to give the audience a solution to our magic even if it is lie. If that is a believable solution the impact is much stronger. In the end the most naive spectator...

Cardistry may be a good convincer for card magic

Andrei you hit it on the head! Exaclty! People don't want to be filled with fluff about pixie dust. People want to see real life human potential. Is it more convincing to say that mentalism is real a display of mind reading? or a display of phsychological manipulation? The latter Andy Nyman...
