    Young vs. Old

i agree there. I feel that many times material (max 7 tricks) is put out on a "new hip" dvd for $30 when those same tricks can be found in a $10 book that has ten times as much information. I have been sucked in to that- some of it is marketing and the target audience. But finding the...

    Young vs. Old

great topic. I enjoy watching "old school" magic. (how is that defined?) but i also enjoy performing the newer "new school" stuff. Although I think the best is a little mix of the two. Personally, for my talent show act this year, I am going to be doing the Linking rings-is that "old...

    Bathroom Cards?

so i've dropped a whole deck in. Don't try to do a srinigng of the cards with your eyes closed. And when practicing in the mirror, put the toilet seat down to prevent falling objects. I've had a few hot shot cuts meet their demise.

Is there a negative stereotype among women in magic?

Oh yeah, I agree with you. I am young, only 17. Ins chool I feel like I do see it. I wasn't necessary saying in the magic community, but the world as a whole. I think someone should be judged on character, skill and work production. thanks for your comment though-it helps clear some things up.

Is there a negative stereotype among women in magic?

unfortunately gender is still a problem in this society. In all legality, they are equal. To me, they are equal. To *******s, they aren't equal. That ain't right. Women magicians are awesome! I think. Breaking the stereotypical "male Magician" and performing. If the intent of your magic...

    Magic For Darfur Auction

great, great, great cause. I hope the amount goes up. This item could go for at least $50. I mean Houchin, Madison and Bayme, not to mention an UNCUT sheet. It's like a poster, except better. PS- it's signed on both sides(correct me if I'm wrong)

    Superstitions

Anyone have any weird/funny/odd superstitions as it relates to magic? Please share(if you'd like). Here's mine: Before I unwrap a deck to use it, I carry it in my pocket for a day. I feel that I hold it and gain an appreciation for what it is. Not just a deck of cards, but my deck of...

Bill Malone is also a lefty, and he is pure talent. Anyway, just mirror the move. Easier said than done, but it's worth a shot-

March 08 :: Custom Playing Cards

I like classic bikes. My idea is that if you use nice cards, it does distract(as you said). Flourishing, however is much different. In flourishing you make the cards look cool, but with a custom back design- it makes it that much better. However, if you get a nice, sharp looking custom deck...

    Nickname or True name?

I use ManningMagic Well Manning is my last name. I still use my first name, but i call myself ManningMagic. But i would try to keep your real name. It's so natural to say hi, I'm (name). Rather than like, "hi I'm (name). Ooops I mean I'm the great Nate" Or some other cheesy name. "the...

    Panic-ed

yeah. well I don't know if that's exactly how i started it, but that was something i said along the way. I know what you mean though. I have had people that I have never spoken a word to say, "hey you're the kid who does magic" or "You can do coin tricks-here take this quarter and pull it...

    Panic-ed

To start, a story: 28 February 2008 I told a kid who I worked with over the summer that I'd do a trick for his table sometime this week. I've been working on Panic for about tow-two and a half weeks and thought maybe I'd show it to them. I walked into the lunch room today and an uneasy...

    Springing the cards

yeah, i have seen that. also, I have had enough, "that's not shuffling" comments to wondering about it. I really like the idea of "this isn't either." good stuff.

    Springing the cards

suprisingly yes. "hey bud, shuffle them again-that's not shuffling." I like to go for how smooth I get can all the cards. Even tempo from one card to the next. true. "i never did shuffle" is an easy out. but i dont want to sound too stuck up. Maybe something comedic?
