Chad Nelson's Liberation of the Fingers

I don't see what's the big deal about it. It's a DVD made for people who want to juggle cards. They'll buy the DVD, practice some stuff, then show it to their friends for a bit, then post it on youtube, and then move onto the next new Dan and dave DVD or new DVD out there by whatever magic...

The "How did you do that?" line.

Years of training, Did you like it? etc etc. Generally you kind of want to leave it vague enough to where they don't go thinking that they could do it, but you also want to answer them with some geniunious in your attitude. Most people don't expect you to stand there and explain to them...

13 Steps To Mentalism: Great Minds Think Alike

Use Osterlinds perfected center tear paper. A lot of the stuff in the book is going to be damn near impossible to find. Due to it being written in the 70's and also in the UK.

    TV rights to an effect?

Or you could simply perform things that you won't need any permission to perform. IE: an Ambitious card routine or some thing like that. Those are usually the things that most magicians or people in the know would freak out over.

    Strong Magic, Or Seriously Silly?

Here's something that most havent recomended. Scripting Magic. Just because you are going to perform for your friends or people around you, doesn't mean that you can't sit down and learn how to write a decent short script about what you are doing. This will also be a better way to get people to...

This makes me want to quit.

Most of Chad Nelson's stuff is for the people who would rather have their stuff look like a ton of fancy flash and skill. While I personally don't see anything wrong with. A lot of poker deals out there can be played up as incredible skill. My main problem with things like that is it takes the...

Breaking The Barrier when Magic becomes ordinary?

Yeah he's pretty much performed way too much for the same crowd of people. What happened to the old saying "Always leave them wanting more." You can't really do that if you constantly perform for them.

This makes me want to quit.

Dying how? If you mean that a lot of teenagers are no longer interested in classics and direct plots. Then yes, to them it's "dying" But the classics of magic will always still entertain and fool most lay people. Aaron Fisher is right though. You shouldn't have to use 100% of your skill if...

    Blizzard question

The original blizzard can be examined, due to the fact that the cards aren't anything super special.

    Magic Cafe?

The Magic cafe is a mess. I'm not just talking about the politics and how everybody acts on it. I'm talking about how the way it is designed, the forum is such a huge maze and a hassle just to find certain things that should in fact be really easy. I mean why the hell do they have a forum for...

    Paperclipped - Weighing My Options

One thing I've noticed is that you can misdirect pretty much anybody if you make eye contact with them while you are doing the dirty work. This more to the fact that people are generally taught to make eye contact with people when somebody else does it. Also learn to do it while talking to them...

    Business License Help

You are asking the wrong bunch of people. You'll need to speak with the people at City Hall or something because I THINK they are the ones that issue out these kinds of licenses.

    An Explosive Stunt

To you maybe, but to the people who are hire him and see the rest of his show. This is most likely a very impressive thing to them.

People messing up my tricks :'(

Sometimes the easiest way out isn't always the best way out, and who knows, if he does decide to speak with her (in a less rude way), maybe she will start respecting him more because he didn't try to "trick" her. I do agree that the other way is usually the easiest way though, just say "No." if...

People messing up my tricks :'(

Most people here are neglecting one key factor in all of this. She is his fathers girlfriend, so she most likely sees everything he does has some sort of trick. Why not just take the adult path and simply talk to her and find out WHY she acts the way she does. Sense is some what close to you...

Rich Ferguson - This is Mentalism

it is probably true, but the thing they are ignoring is that when you film an instructional DVD, you don't always have a lot of time to show EVERYTHING that goes on before or after.

    Gambling Routine books/DVDs?

Whats your skill level, because Ortiz stuff often times will use things like 2nd deals, Bottoms and other things that aren't too easy. I know Card College has a few Gambling demos in it that are pretty much within everybody's range of skill. Mnemonica also has a few really good ones if you are...

    Palming

The best way to practice it is to do it while NOT watching your hands. Do it slowly and go over the other bits of misdirection as well. Like doing the move while talking or making eye contact with the spectators.
