    1857 Seated liberty quarter dollar

You can just scan Ebay to find the median value of the coin you have, which appears to range anywhere from $5 to $60. Personally I would take it to a coin dealer to determine the value. No one is going to know the exact value until they see the actual coin. --Jim

    What's new about Digital Dissolve?

That post from Steve Dusheck is rather interesting. It almost appears as if he is looking to take back the permission he gave Schoolcraft because of his involvement in this project. Then again he apparently didn't give Lassen permission to make the gimmick either but he continues to produce it...

Do I have to give a video to submit a trick?

I would imagine as long as it can be recreated by the reader in the same detail based on how you worded the effect then it would be considered. If you simply put in a few blurbs about the plot without the method then I imagine it will find its way to the recycle bin. --Jim

Bringing People to Jesus through Magic

I just wanted to point out, since I know SoulGrind won't self-promote his own threads, that he made a great thread over on the E forums about Gospel Magic. http://www.elusionist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74665 I thought there were some excellent ideas in this thread for anyone who is...

Bringing People to Jesus through Magic

You can say it is entertainment. Does this person never watch a movie because the actors/actresses are deceiving you into thinking they are someone else. If you present it as a trick or deception instead of entertainment and engaging you are probably going to continue to get those types of...

What Happend to The Astonishment Project?

Jason Messina posted this yesterday on the Cafe: It looks like they are doing maintenance and will have the site back up sometime this week. So it appears the sky isn't falling =) --Jim

The Magic Cafe news... not good.

Everything is back for the most part now. Squeaky wheel gets the grease every time =) Hopefully this sends a wake up call to everyone to check their backups once in awhile to see that they actually work..... --Jim

The Magic Cafe news... not good.

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=192609&forum=40&3 shows you how to retrieve some of your posts. It only really helps for threads you started as most of our replies wouldn't make much sense posting them as new topics.... You can search by any username and it should...

    Panic!

Nice...you must be old like me cause I am betting very few people will get that reference =) --Jim p.s. I appreciate your input on the gimmick itself I am just looking for a review on Aaron's subtleties he has added to make this gimmick into his own routine.

    Card Magic Bible

You can't go wrong with either Card College or Royal Road to Card Magic. Card College is more expansive and current but Royal Road still really nails home the fundamentals just as well. --Jim

    Panic!

Looking forward to a review from someone who actually purchased Aaron's effect....Sorry mate but a review on a product you don't even own isn't all that valuable to me personally. I hope this doesn't start a trend of reviewing products without actually even having them. --Jim

    Exposure = Corn Flakes

Great post Sean! Now for the truly diabolical question of the day....Do Frosted Flakes (Tony the Tiger) qualify as Corn Flakes? Because they are pretty damn tasty once in awhile if you can eat them quick enough before they turn into soggy cardboard. --Jim

Horror stories by lots of famous magicians!

Great stories you have compiled there from some incredible magicians. My favorites were easily Michael Ammar's story and David Regal's story: "Can I shuffle the cards"? I held out the deck to her and soothingly said "Of course you can..." Then I clutched the deck tightly and spit out "...ON THE...

    Online Sessions

I am just waiting for someone to come along with 10+ years of experience wanting to start another private club. You pretty much missed the entire point of these forums which is to bring everyone together, not slice them into small elitist pockets of people. Or were you just giving us an example...

Are there going to be protected forums?

I am curious what you believe the next level to be within a magic community? Would it be a free exchange of ideas and methods in a public forum? Wouldn't publicly discussing something such as Lee Asher's Panic be exposure? We jump up and down in our seats when we see exposure or tutorials on...

    Mentalism?

Pretty much my thoughts exactly Nash. You can have a discussion on all of those topics and further others in magic by doing so without exposing some of the finer points of mentalism or a mentalism effect. My only concern would be for those few select bad apples that want to ruin it for everyone...

Are there going to be protected forums?

Lee, My obvious concern is exposure discussion. The Cafe has an interesting take on what constitutes exposure which tows the line "If I layman can read this and understand the method behind the trick then it is exposure". Whereas a magician could read the sum of the thread and fully...
