So far, everyone's got some good advice. Just my 2 cents: Never try and force a full routine. Just start off with something quick, simple, and visual. If they're impressed, keep goin'! I usually start off with 2CM or Here Then There. Good luck!

The classic force is really convincing and the more you do it, the better you get. A good rule of thumb: Do the Classic Force every single time you have a spectator pick a card. Every time. If they don't pick the force card, don't freak out. Just to a quick trick with their card and move on...

Great point. There are so many videos of magicians sitting alone in front of their webcam... Live performances are so much more fun to watch. Plus, you learn what you did well, and what you need to work on in any live performance.
