I've taken to carrying my Scotch and Soda set in the Quiver wallet. That way I can end with the Looney reappearing back in the wallet, thus giving the illusion that it transposed with the quarter that was originally there.

The best opener, in my opinion, is the Chicago opener. It's easy enough for a beginner to learn, fast, simple, and very magical.

I've experimented with a trick using the 52 on 1 gaff card that has a seven of hearts on the other side. I would ask them to just name a card, not an Ace or a Queen because they're too obvious. Sometimes I would get lucky and they'll name the seven, but whatever the case was I would do the gag...

Love that you're starting to branch out! I have a bit of advice when it comes to performing for an older crowd. They love to talk, and you should engage with them as much as possible. I will do really simple things so that my focus is on them the entire time and I've even stopped doing tricks...

You can structure a routine using Cipher to get the person's phone number. I've never used it that way but I imagine it would work just fine.

The drawing in the book is a little misleading. The placement of the little finger does not aid in the move. Try holding the deck as you normally would and try it that way. As others have said, it's a difficult move to accomplish, and I can only nail it about 7 times out of 10.

I'm casting my vote for the NPH cards. They would be a perfect fit for the theme.
