    Advice!!

My wife chimed in and said don't tell her until you are married. Preferably after you have a kid or two with her so there is no turning back. I can't help but think her advice was a bit autobiographical... And for some actual advice...magic you can do thats for someone else thats casual; if...

    Advice!!

RealityOnes suggestion of performing for someone else and then having a discussion about it if she is interested seems appropriate. If she is interested that is, I can't stress enough that magic shouldn't be a major focus of the date. Obviously at some time you will talk about yourself and it...

Help showcase is coming soon and I need some tricks

Kinda short notice. How about you list some of your tricks you preform and see if anyone can help you with the progression of them. I mean like an opener and some middle stuff that builds to a closer. Adding tricks you haven't practiced lots now doesn' seem like a good idea.

Si Stebbins from New Deck Order

Darwin Ortiz At the Card Table Lecture Volume 2 has a way to get into the setup using shuffles. Otherwise I think his book is hard to find. There are a few other methods but they ay not be the best way to get into it. If you didn't mean how to shuffle into it you can find the setup online...

    Is This Ok?

You could just mention that they are the methods you used to set up the end effect and that others can use whatever control they are comfortable with to control the card. You don't need to teach the moves in detail because the focus is on the effect you created. You could also give a mention...

Favorite Self-Working tricks and their source?

I never knew the source until now (Thanks Casey!) but I have used a version of "Neither Blind Nor Silly" by Juan Tamariz. The state of the deck after the trick would lead me into another self working trick I got out of a Karl Fulves book but I no longer have the book (lent it out) so I don't...

What was the first trick you ever learned?

I learned find a card trick when I was 6/7ish or so from one of my dads books. The trick was the "Lie Detector" or "pulse" one.

    Unique Personality While Performing...

I think of it like martial arts. Some styles are closer to each other than other ones, and within each style students who progress further become less and less carbon copies of their teachers while their own style comes out. Even with this happening there is still some resemblance to their...

    ACR Question .......

Any literature you find I would be happy to hear about. Thanks for looking out! As for using a wall or bench to block angles great idea. When there is a table I try to sit favorably so anyone who sits down or come up (servers etc.) they will be where I want them to be. I used a friend who...

    ACR Question .......

I try start by standing beside people kind of shoulder to shoulder and then I face them when doing some tricks but alternate back to shoulders when talking. When people start walking up I try to direct them to a good spot for me by welcoming them getting names catching them up on the situation...

    ACR Question .......

Just so you know I am fairly new to preforming as well and am working on my crowd control. Usually when I start preforming and the crowd starts getting bigger I get a bit jittery too. The gridding of my routines helped alleviate this lots!

    ACR Question .......

It looks like you have the answer, some moves/routines are better with different sized groups. I watched your videos you posted and you have at least one control that do well with crowds of 5ish people and easily more that do well with 1 or 2, you just need to make several versions of the effect...
