    Places to get gimmick card

This has been released in a few gaff decks and as a trick. You should be able to find something without too much searching.

Which brick of cards to purchase next for practice

Just keep trying decks and see what you like. It also matters what types of things you do with them. I like Aristocrats very much. They are a good balance of price and performance. They are more expensive than bikes, but cheaper than most premium decks.

    Card Sleights and Brain Training

As for your dry hands you should try SortKwik or Golden Touch spray lotion. Get both and see what you like. I've also used Dove as hand soap and found improvement, but at least get some SortKwik.

    Sources for Misdirection

The Art of Switching Decks by Giobbi is largely a treatise on misdirection. Though it is a bit expensive to obtain just to site as a reference for a school project, but excellent if you wish to learn about misdirection or even deck switching. Also Card College Vol II and Expert Card Technique...

    Systematic Cutting To Control

It is buried in the middle of the description of a trick, but there is something more along theses lines with multiple crimped/gaffed cards on page 142 of Redford's Temporarily Out of Order.

    America's Got Talent audition???

On television I want to see what skills they have. They're a skilled magician and are on national television because of that, I want them to bring it. On YouTube to me a video of a self working trick is just a trailer where you don't tell me who makes the trick. This is just a rant I have...

    Youtube Guilt

This That is my main gripe about YouTube magicians and it equals exposure. Some people don't seem to realize you can just record it again until you get it right. If you flashed at all on video, you flashed too much. I say if you keep this in mind, go for it!

    Name of a suitable count?

I was thinking of it as an alternate version (or whole different count if you will) where the last card is placed on the bottom instead of the top. You gotta put it somewhere, so put it on the bottom. If you put it there during, instead of after the count it's just a different count, not a...

    America's Got Talent audition???

I like the purse idea! I hate it when they just do some self working trick.

    Name of a suitable count?

Do an Elmsley count, after the third card you have the fourth by itself. Just put it on the bottom of the pile instead of the top when you are done. You are reset for another Elmsley. Or just do Jordan as above.

Learning different things with the pass?

Mostly this. You can always do whatever you want. I don't find my muscle memory gets confused. I have to remind myself which version I'm working on sometimes, but it's not really a problem. I have a couple of things I can work on as a break from my main practice item. Though if you've got...

Here's my card magic library. What books should I still get?

Thanks for the help everyone. Marlo is such good stuff! I actually did pick up Royal Road the other day. Haven't read it much. I learned from Tarbell and Expert Card Technique, but will check it out. Diaconis is my hero! I liked In Order to Amaze so much that I just ordered Card Fictions...

    Systematic Cutting To Control

Memorized deck books are full of methods on how to get to any card in the stack. Mnemonica (or Aronson) is likely the place to start. Memorandum (Aragon) has a section on using a crimped card, but generally refers the reader to Mnemonica for discussions of technique. For a more lengthy...

Here's my card magic library. What books should I still get?

I'm looking for suggestions for books I might enjoy or learn great things from. I am not a pro, but I worked in a magic shop for several years and I enjoy spending many hours practicing card sleights and reading magic books. I like close-up magic that I can perform very close-up for just a few...

    Catching cards...A PROBLEM THAT I CAN'T JUST SOLVE...ugh

I'm assuming this thread is about a boomerang card, perhaps it is not. When I say slap catch with open palm and a swing of your arm I mean with your palm open you catch the card by swinging your arm and slapping it as it returns to you. Slap catch with your palm open is not a trick, it's just...

    Catching cards...A PROBLEM THAT I CAN'T JUST SOLVE...ugh

When first starting out I would keep my palm open and slap catch it with a swing of the arm.
