The Vaudeville Deck was just the first to pop in mind after seeing 1920s in your post. I'm pretty sure vaudeville was popular during the 1920s. Never read The Great Gatsby, so not sure what it was about.
Glad a magician finally won AGT. I think Mat represented magic very well. He's performances seemed to be very natural of him and everything ran smooth.
There's really not a "best" card control. It depends on the performer and their skill level. The double undercut is a good one. I use that control more than others.
