    What Deck Should I Buy

While counterintuitive on the T11 forums, this is a good point. Look up top lists, compare and contrast them. Heck, your favorite pack of cards could be a random Bikes design. I started card magic back up by grabbing a pack of archangels. Granted I didn’t know they were T11 at the time. It all...

    Worn out Cards

I keep them for doing practicing bends, tears, folds etc. They also make great duplicates if you run out and happen to need one that isn’t scrutinized much. Also testing out gaffs before ruining a nice fresh deck as mentioned.

    What Deck Should I Buy

Really whatever you like the design of most. Tamer back designs are better for performing I have heard. So maybe try Monarchs or Aristocrats (if I recall their backs correctly). If it doesn’t matter to you, go wild and pick what you like. Perhaps even supporting a charity along the way!

    Thoughts on Magic Video Comments?

I know we’re jesting about skin pockets, but technically it could be considered a thing that is in use (maybe not so much any more). Correct me if my memory is off but weren’t there legitimate skewers through body/limb acts done by carefully creating a fistula over time much like a piercing and...

    Favorite card deck

Cherry Casino v3- I wish I knew about these when V1 came out. This was my second brick as they handle great and don’t look suspect at all. Standard Bikes- My first Costco brick. Cannibalized into probably just a few fully intact decks. The rest I gimmicked or had signed, etc. They’re the tried...

    Thoughts on Magic Video Comments?

The comments trying to dissect Shin Lim’s first Fool Us routine on YouTube are great. As ChristopherT said, the veil of anonymity adds a lot. If they were actually at a gig instead of watching it, I guarantee they’d be silent rather than yelling out crackpot theories. Oh and I can’t praise...

    Unpopular magic opinions.

It’s definitely a transitional utility book from my point of view. I did get it when I was a beginner but I had some bearing of what was what and it was still hard to disgest. However Royal Road is definitely a great primer for both the expert books. Once I worked through that, I could cherry...

    Unpopular magic opinions.

That made me think of one, I’m upset/not upset that smoking is slowly phasing out. Finger through a _____ coin versus a cigarette through a quarter seems so silly. Or any other cigarette trick really as lighters, matches, cigs used to be a thing almost anyone would have on them and you could use...

Printing and binding purchased ebooks for personal use.

So if they’re deceased and I acquired it legally then I imagine it’s safe. Though I’ll obviously put in my due diligence beforehand. IANAL so it’s always good to ask around in case you missed something. Like how copyrights extend well beyond death.

Is it wrong to keep a secret from the magic world?

That is a fair point, and I did derail a little bit. I’m mostly thinking of the saturation of repackaged sleights/tricks/gimmicks when you brought it up as a main source of income. 10 books from the last century and you’re probably able to replicate if not recreate a lot out there. But there...

Printing and binding purchased ebooks for personal use.

When it comes to books, I honestly prefer a real copy instead of messing with my tablet. I feel like I don’t absorb what I read as well when it is in a digital format. Of course there are probably more pros to just getting over it... anyways. I was wondering where this would sit on the...

Delving into coin magic, what coins to use...

Fair enough! I’ll admit I’m a sucker for the worn patina of AG Morgans though I could see how higher grades would be visually pleasing. But that’s neither here nor there for now as I practice. Looks like I’m off to the local coin shop and getting some silver. I appreciate the guidance and...

Is it wrong to keep a secret from the magic world?

Truth. However there is a staggering amount of laziness out there on the market. Picture this- The trailer opens up, hard cuts and harsh lighting to dramatic EDM. You see some shuffles and flourishes and then the routine. Marketed as “AMB1TION”. You spend $5 out of curiosity and then realize you...

Delving into coin magic, what coins to use...

Out of curiosity, wouldn’t Very Good/Fine and Extra Fine talk more due to the less worn details of lower quality? But they’re more visually attractive I suppose. I imagine any 38mm silver dollars (heck even culls) would be good for just getting a feel and practing. The Extra Fine would be for...

Delving into coin magic, what coins to use...

I noticed a softer heft. Especially with say a sleeving vanish they whisper and follow smoothly. My Eisenhower practically sounded out what was happening. (Clad) Are matching dates an important thing to look for, and assuming I can...how many would I want to gather?

Delving into coin magic, what coins to use...

I’m a rather tall and lanky guy at 6’9” and have proportional hands. I was trying to follow along with a routine that piqued my interest and noticed that with quarters and half dollars I’m about as a dexterous as toddler. Granted this could be the innate difficulty of coin magic, but getting...

    Good magic book suggestions?

Gah accidentally hit submit on mobile and missed the edit window. Practice one thing at a time until you have it mastered. Use a webcam or a patient friend if needed to cover all the angles. Don’t spread yourself too thin trying to learn 10 things. Also even if you think you know something...

    Good magic book suggestions?

Jason England has a video up on his top books and they’re all solid picks as well. https://store.theory11.com/products/what-to-read-jason-england On that note however some of those books will be hard to find in physical form or even digital. So if you want to physically own them, expect to pay...
