Matt: All well done. Now I'll have a bad headache for the rest of the day due to getting hit in the head with the baseball bat that is KBA. WTF? You are evil... pure evil. I love it.

    Preparation Or Expection?

The problem is that most close-up effects don't play well in a parlor (larger group, no stage) performance. More specifically, a lot of card tricks don't play well for larger audiences when they can't see what you are doing (and yes, magicians focus too much on card tricks in my opinion). What...

    Coins

It depends on what you are looking for. Most magic shops like Vanishing, Penguin and MJM will have the standard gimmicked coins from Roy Kuppers and Tango. You can order a larger variety of gaffs directly from Roy Kueppers or Jamie Schoolcraft and both of them will make you custom gaffs for a...

What kind of magician are you?

I'm a magician who asks the audience, through my presentation and effects, to join me on an adventure through my imagination where anything can and will happen. If they do, they will be rewarded with an experience that touches their sense of whimsy, provides a glimpse of impossibility...

How good should a card magican be after 3 monthes

I recommend Card College Volumes 1 and 2 over Royal Road. It is easier to learn from them. I'd say go through those books (or even Royal Road), learn the sleights and learn to perform the effects using the sleights. It is learning the effects that gives us motivation. After those two (or...

    Origins of this trick?

Royal Road to Card Magic, page 25? There are a number of impromptu variations in Greater Magic and Encyclopedia of Card Tricks which may cover what you are doing. Otherwise, this may job your memory:https://www.conjuringarchive.com/list/category/1418

    Teaching magic for money

I"m going to take a bit of a different approach. Let's start with the idea that you probably wouldn't have posted if you didn't feel at least a bit uncomfortable about the situation. My sense is you discomfort is based on your feeling that what you are teaching him isn't worth what he is...

Does anyone know what the name of this trick is???

It was a joke based on the name being exactly what he talked about during his performance. I was fortunate to have Bill give me a tour of the CARC library in NYC a couple of years ago. If anyone knows me, they know how much I love the history of magic. Among other things, Bill showed me a...

Does anyone know what the name of this trick is???

You are going to be disappointed... it called "The Fidgeting Card." It is published in L.I.N.T. and is by Bill Kalush. A similar effect is Perversion in Totally Out of Control. The legacy of the plot goes back further to James Lewis's Inversion and Richard Kaufman's "The World's Fastest...

    Looking for effect...

Original was in Tom Stone's October 2009 Genii column on p.20 and then again in Tom's book Maelstorm. Both use the dice. I'm unaware of any published versions without the dice. If you want to do it without dice, you will have to come up with your own method.
